i actually thought up my own "texas chainsaw massacre" continuity , and it goes as follows :
"tcm : the early years"
"texas chainsaw massacre"
"tcm : 100 years later"

Leatherface is my dream man a redneck guy with a chainsaw and dead peoples skin on his face.
anyways, enough of my fangirlism. THIS ROCKS. the shading is so nice, and the mask looks so authentic all shrivled up like that. and even though you cant see them all that great, his eyes look angry. nice work ^_^

How did you get all that textured look? Yes, I'm nosey. You're obviously brilliantly talented and the overall image is so damn good! I'm just curious how you make it happen. I'm a fan of the whole WIP process because I can't draw worth a shit!

Basically I just use a good heavy paper with a lot of tooth like pastel paper or watercolor paper. I usually sketch out the drawing first (most of these sketches look like childrens drawings) to get the general composition and then lightly draw it on the colored paper with a hard lead. I use Berol Prismacolor pencils because they have a great soft lead that can get really true colors and give that cool texture look on the coarse paper. Berol makes a pencil series called Verithin (spelling?) which are harder and are great for getting really fine details which I use when i'm almost done. I'm color blind too so I tend to stick to non-traditional skin tone pallets so I don't fuck it up by throwing in green for the shadow under a cheek bone instead of brown, which has happened much more than once! I just recently started this combination of Berol and coarse paper after a freind told me that it might work well with my 'style' (i didn't know I had one!!!) I'm getting a bit burnt out on it though and after I finish this Jason Vorhees piece and the Michael Myers one I have lined up I may journey back into my past and pick up my watercolor brushes. I'm looking for new methods but being a stay at home dad makes school nearly impossible, especially with another one on the way and a nursery to finish. I'm deep in my self taught class of woodwork too, learning staining techniques, sculpting and a few other things. I'm working on a toy box for my son right now (with not so good results, ha!) I've also been talking with a few digital artists on tips for digital painting so I can do more with my new tablet than collect dust. Anywho....laundry awaits me....

Holy crap! Color blind. That's just nuts with the things you turn out. I'm not too familiar with the color blindness issue so I don't know how you see things but it seems it would be hard. It's nice to have the luxury of working with different mediums so when you do start to burn out you can switch it up a bit. Hope to see all of your styles no matter what it is Thanks for taking the time to answer, I really appreciate it!

Basically I just have a hard time seeing the difference between what I call similar colors such as certain greens and browns; certain reds, oranges and yellows; certain blues and purples and a few others. I ask my wife a lot to see if I have the right color to match the source color and I mess up sometimes and have to start over, but it's all good. I always wonder what it would be like to have normal vision though, but so far there isn't a cure for it. Such is life though. My wife is military and I stay at home with my son and maybe when we stop moving around the world once a year I can go to art school and learn a trick to master it. Oh well. Take care nurse!

I think you are doing quite well and I certainly DO hope that you eventually get settled somewhere and and can go to school if you wish to. There are far worse things as you know than being color blind, so I'd say you are getting on quite well!
you take care too

Fuck, you've given Leatherface, my baby, a very well drawn portrait. I'm sure he'd be proud. He wanted me to give you this giant hunk of meat. *throws it on table*. Seriously though, I love this. From the thumbnail I knew it was an automatic fav.

I'm a little dissapointed I didn't choose a paper with a little less tooth....it would have been smoother, but live and learn...But thanks though!
