Description
A tragic tale of the formation of Empress Broken Heart.Β Hopefully it's clear within the comic that it's set in the future, by which time Twilight is at Cadence's current alicorn level and Cadence is at Luna's (swirly mane, woo).("Broken Heart" instead of "Nightmare Cadence" because I think "Nightmare [Name]" is a lazy naming system! They could at least have gone with "Fashion Nightmare" or "Dark Designer" or such for Rarity in the comics.)
Anywho, playing around with a messier style in the hope that it'll let me do comics quickly! Not got the hang of it yet, obviously, but I only started playing around with it 2 days ago, so give me time!
It still let me finish this comic much quicker than I otherwise would have (assuming I'd ever have otherwise finished it)! Would have been done within a day if I hadn't got stuck on the idea that the end panel needed more colour and that the "never come back" one needed some attempt at magic. Not hugely happy with the latter, but it did look very plain before. 
Cadence's cutie mark vector by , so at least those parts are tidy!

It's been awhile since I first saw that and it has left me at a loss of words. Still I am not sure what to say, besides that the concept is incredibly good. After seeing The Canterlot Wedding I did have such a though, wgat shall happen with that mariage. But I neglected it, thinking that maybe Shining will become immortal. Or Cadance mortal.
But this, this is actually the most possible scenario, and with Nightmare's fallout dwelling the darker side of Equestria magic it was only a matter of time for princess Broken Heart to take control. And in a way it is so different that Luna's case, she could have been brought back, damage could have been repaired. With Cadance, there is nothing she can go back to, this is very well caught in her cutie mark, the crystal heart will never be one piece again. I like how it became darker, although you could hace added sone spikes and thorns with bkack magic dripping. Speaking of which, great work with "Never come back" panel, that darkness consuming her looks awesome. Her subjects sharing her pain and connected to her nervous system, that is dark, that is really painful. She will make crystal ponies wish Sombra was still their king.

And the name of Broken Heart, that is brilliant. I fell in that trap of giving my OC "nightmare" name, too late now to withdraw.

Not certain yet, but maybe, and (while I'm happy for multiple interpretations) I wouldn't want that to be out of the blue for you if you do write a fic.
