I have a feeling Changelings have no definite gender. That the only actual difference is the queen. Perhaps she is an evolved form, like one of the "Chosen" out of the crowd to become the main leader or breeder perhaps. Not sure exactly. Must. do. more. research.

Maybe it is just me, but the fact that the Cadence Changeling has smaller "ears" and a smaller fin makes it female.
Following that logic, and the way they both acted in the last panel...
This is their first attempt at loving each other after the catastrophic invasion, but they both decided to take other forms to make it more comfortable...
Then they got a little too kinky and started slobbering all over each other...
