Almost finished this last week, but decided to expand the Unicorn panel to make it more fun. Also, I vectored a Luna ducky before remembering I needed Nightmare Moon, so now she's sitting around being useless.
Could have argued more (e.g. Sunset's basically a human with as much magic as her earth-pony-human friends, so her background could easily have been tweaked to 'earth pony student angry that she couldn't attend magic school' or such), but I think I make my point, i.e. that SOME non-unicorn pony foes would have been cool (and easy to include) by now!

... Damn, this comic made me realize just how much more awesome Tempest could have been if she'd been an earth pony jealous of unicorn magic.

I'd say that "one day" we'll get a kick-ass earth pony antagonist, but at this point that might have to wait until later generations!
At least Tempest still had excellent animation and fight choreography. Don't normally see that much effort put into unusual quadruped motion (usually animators just keep it simple or make them humanoid for fights), so it was refreshing!

There is a bright side though. Tempest was pretty kickass thanks to that amazing fight choreography, and she is a unicorn. Imagine what an earth pony is capable off.

It's still quite an imbalance, though...it almost makes me wonder if Equestrians would be more prone to blaming the closest unicorn for trouble than any earth pony or pegasus...

It's strongly implied that unicorns make up a large part of the upper class, so it might be that earth and pegasus pony crimes are more closely policed, leaving unicorns more likely to research dark arts and go nuts.
There are probably ponies who blame unicorns for everything though.

You forgot Chancellor! Which later on is revealed to be Darth Snais! That said, seriously. We need either an earth pony or a Pegasus for a big bad! And Trixie hasn't one episode. She technically has two she just wasn't the evil and the other one, but Twilight made her be!

Well, busters is technically the episode I'm referring to, then again there is also the other episode where Twilight was jealous that Trixie was getting all of Starlight attention. As I said there was only really one episode where she was actively doing this and even then it was Twilight actions, of course, included mystical amulets.

No one's mistaken Discord for a horse lately, and Tirek seems to be keeping the 'taur' in 'centaur' by looking more like a monkey/bull mix.

Problem is, any unicorn with sufficient power can wipe the floor with any Earth Pony or Pegasus villian,

Tempest Storm managed fine against 4 alicorns with just gadgets and combat skills though, plus magical potions or items (of which we've already got a few canon) could give magical ability to non-unicorns. Manipulation from behind the scenes could avoid head-on fighting, too.
Most villains haven't been the type to 1-on-1 battle Twilight without some sort of evil magic boost in the first place. Stygian's gave him an alicorn form, too, so it probably could have done that no matter how he started.

I'm guessing to be a villain you need to want to take over at least a town, right? There's some small-scale antagonists, like Suri or Gladmane or Lightning Dust or Flim and Flam, but they don't feel like big fish. Although... the Flim Flam brothers did take over Equestria in one timeline. So, two more unicorns for the list, right?

I have an increasing problem with the reformed villains and the main message of the show. 
I mean, I don't mind some reforming, but it's unrealistic and a tad controlling to think you can (or should) get everyone to be your friend.

Seriously, it was my big issue with the episode "A Friend in Deed". Pinkie harrassed that poor donkey and was just lucky that she found his long lost love. If he were a widower, she'd have been a jerk! Also my issue with "Parental Gluidance". The show runners clearly never had to deal with toxic people in their lives, and instead of keeping their morals to things they know about, they push morals about things they know nothing about.
