Hello deviants,Today I present to you, CMS-FF 1.0 Beta.
Its a personal project what should be a fully functional CMS for Flash portfolio websites who uses XML when its finished.
My goal is a very easy and well organized system with a clean design.
Right now I want you to guys to give it a try and play some with the features and options. Everything you see is allowed, even saving to the XML file. If you find bugs, please tell me!

SwishMax2, Photoshop CS3, Dreamweaver CS3 and my brain.
Time:
Currently around +/- 130 hours. To much, I know...

But as a coder, I'll give you an advice:
You can make a CMS in html + php + mysql and make the output in XML in the way you want.
And if you wanna make it in flash, do it in Adobe Flash 9. You'll have a lot more suport to do it.
I'm coding an CMS in PHP + MYSQL ... the system can include, edit and delete sites, sections, categories and content, as well posting polls and galleries.
It uses a "Template System" that I coded. It gets a HTML file and render the site, searching for "tags" in template, converting to MySQL queries and replacing them to the results.
Something like: You'll put in your template -> "
And when the system renders your site, it searches for this tag and replaces it for the last poll included in the category with ID = 1.
Depending on the template, you can render HTML files or XML files as you wish.
I created a bunch of tags ... the "tag system" it's almost finished ... the CMS layout is finished ... I'll post here soon ...

I though about a database, but for now just XML will do just fine for me.
I thought about learning Flash also, but Swish offers me all I need. But I do want to learn it sometime.
I'm just not that experienced with PHP and databases yet.
Is your system PHP of Flash?

My interface is like Joomla's CMS. I liked your interface, it's something new, somethink more "desktop like" ..
And again, I think you could be more successful in Adobe Flash + Action Script 3. It had a lot of changes that might interest you. I used SwishMax a long ago. The code is similar to action script, so if you start to read something about it, you won't be confused.

I don't think the step to Flash is very big, I just need to know the program well, and how AS3 works.

wow, i already added a new gallery titled "a new gallery" and put some of my works. it works very nice. Apart from CMS, you can use it as a website where users log in and add their own galleries, etc. Of course this needs some more change but you are on the way
by the way check [link] they also have a CMS in their website.

I also thought of a party website, where you can upload photo's of parties or whatever.
It seems possible and perhaps fun if people with use it, but that is quite a big project if I do that
I saw group94's CMS a while ago. But I think my approach might work better, but we will see that after its released

Its not for "sale". Customers can choose if they want the CMS or not when they want a Flash website.
Maybe in the future if I want to get more attention with it.

This idea is great. But I still miss a button to see where my changes have taken place.
It's like I know how to do things, but I don't know why I'm doing them if u know what I mean hehe...

That's a good point really...
But I think you mean that there is no example where a website is actually using the edited XML file.
Maybe I'll have that in the next preview

And I just do, I don't think so much before I start on a component or script. And later I see I did it all wrong just because I didn't make a solid plan or something. That's maybe why they call it beta version

In the Add Category you have a spelling mistake in the text box: "Please typ the new category name here"

No problem, I also recommend making it to when you click in the text box, have that text truncate down to nothing. Right now you have to highlight the entire block and delete what is there before you start typing.

I know, but that's very hard, maybe even impossible in flash. But I'll put on my "to do" list, or maybe a "to try" list

yea, I was thinking this to. Its annoying having to highlight/backspace the text out. You should make the field auto-clear on click
