Description Edit: Added a variable line lenght!

Today I present to you a little but neat Flash experiment.
With this application you can make a "screenshot" of the moving lines whenever you want.

And maybe its also fun to !!! SHARE YOUR AMAZING SCREENSHOT !!!

My Laptop could run about 250 lines at the same time without having to much lag (I think my desktop can handle more), but tell me what yours can!

I think I'm going to use this technique in websites to, because when I remove the lines it will cost no CPU anymore but you do have a random COOL image.

A few configurations I like to play with:
Lines: 250
Glow: 10
Spread: 3

Lines: 150
Glow: 4
Spread: 3

Tell me your favorite!

Well I hope you like it.

Nice, try one with more lines.

A rpoblem with so many lines is that when you add the glow, it just goes into one big white area.

Also, You need a bigger area!

If you ajust the spread (for example to 3) and you try it with 200 - 250 lines, the result will be really cool.

Its just a test/experiment, so its not really functional.

It's fun though and that's what really counts.

I saw you said the formula, the random variables means it's never the same? Or will, if you lave it long enough go back to where it started?

You'll never see the same results. At least I'd be very unlikely.
There are two random variables which determines the movements.

can you remove the drag button? It rally gets in the way when you get a decent vertical capture...

Pretty cool. Hard to understand how you did it though just from looking on it. They interact among themselves and some gravity attractors or just some formula?

Ehm, its probably just as easy as your pixel based collision detection
Its a Math.cos function with some random variables:

a, b variable are random
vY = Math.cos(vT / a + 4.000000E-001) * Math.sin(vT / 20) * Math.sin(vT / 13 + 2) * b;
vX = Math.cos(vT / a) * Math.sin(vT / 7 + 1) * Math.sin(vT / 15) * b;

Thats why they always come back to each other again.

Oouh. Then it is very similar to what i did in rainbow whirls. It just that for you as magnetic field serves 2D cosinus function and in my case it is random parametrized perlin function i take from bitmap.perlinNoise. Looks cool anyways. By the way check my comment at your user page and check my "radioactive spaghetti" work

I think I'm going to learn BitmapData more. Because as I look at your experiments, I see the true power.
You make me look like a complete actionscript noob

That "radioactive spaghetti" looks funny, but what I always think is this. How can it be used in a real website. Because a website is something you can make money with. And this is nice but not really "usefull" if you know what I'm trying to say. No offense thought, because maybe your job later is actionscripter for a big company because of your skills.

It would make one neat Pre-loader (for a site with a lot of Flash content to load). Sony did something like this with five differently colored lines when you booted up the PS2.

You have an off-by-one error on the number of lines btw

Well mostly those things i post here are just experiments for my own fun. I do work in firm that is involved with web sites and can do them. IT just that it is a part time job and my real interests lie in computer graphics, physics and other process simulation. And game making of course So how can you use those in game? I suppose plenty of ways And i can use same code to make really many things for sites too. For example making some neon light tubes That fly in and form site title

For games is just perfect!

But I know why you say I'm not that experienced. But I think that the things I do know, I use really well. What do you think?

Well i said that before you showed me your other works not on DA. Now i see that in some things you are very good. Just they are less programming intensive but design and atmosphere of those rocks You should upload some more interfaces here too. You may get some orders for work or something

Thanks, also the thing that's becoming more important to me is usability. I find it extremely frustrating if something is not logical at some websites. So I really think myself as a user sometimes, and I try to for example upload those images. How will this become easier and not frustrating if you use it.

I'll upload more, but there all partly finished...

About works offers, don't worry, approximately ones a week I get notes or e-mail from potential customers
