Brenda,

the first thing you have to start doing is begin drawing from real life...you have shown in your gallery that you know your way around your tools, and that is a great beginning. unfortunately what i am seeing that that many of your drawings are structurally flat. for example, your Smurfette [link] is a good idea, but her anatomy, although cartoon-like, doesn't fit properly. in that her screen left arm is coming out towards us, but her screen right arm should be going away from us...but you have the perspective of her blouse curved the wrong way.
i see other problems with the structure and proportions in her hands, the ambiguity of the orientation of her hips, and floatiness in the features of her face.
although done in jest, this is actually a good way to make sure that all your character structure is correct [link]

don't be discouraged, though. i think you need to go out of your comfort zone of drawing cartoons and fantasy and start drawing from real life (not pictures, but sitting there with your sketchbook and drawing stuff around you). i would focus on honing your perspective skills because that is where i see you are need the most practice.

also, anything else i can help with, just let me know. i was a teacher or animation for four years in India and enjoy mentoring.
