first, a list of changes/additions:

shuttlebay doors and its open/close mechanism.
secondary hull stairs, hallways, and smaller cargo containers.
crew quarters (enlisted bunks and officers' quarters), exterior window placements, and emergency warp core ejection system.
bracing, secondary computer core, and emergency impulse plasma vents
saucer escape pod placement, aft-facing docking port interior, and the connecting hallways/stairs behind the bridge
dorsal sensor dome equipment, main view imaging electronics, atmospheric pumps/regulators
ventral phaser array, forward VIP quarters and lounge.

usually when i work on one of these, it becomes an effort to fill up the empty decks with something interesting, but in this case, it has been a real challenge to put in just the basics of a starship. it's so small, relatively, that i've had to make compromises all over. for one: no turbo lifts. there simply isn't enough room for them. so it's stairs and ladders to get between decks.
figuring out the crew quarters has also been a bother and i had to settle with placing most of them behind the main warp plasm conduits in the secondary section.
i still also have to keep in mind the mission profile that this ship is supposed to fulfill, and i've even got a few ideas to make things a little more interesting and appropriate WHY the Federation would even build such a small ship.
anyway, this has been a good chunk of my time and not only am i learning a fair amount about Adobe Illustrator (my previous LCARS were done solely in Photoshop), but i'm also looking forward to getting back into texturing.
