Description
THE CHEESIEST ANIMATION EVER FEAT. MY GODAWFUL HANDWRITING (worst title btw)Aha! I bet you guys all thought I was dead. Think again! I was actually just working on this thing here the entire time. BUT LEMME TELL YOU, THIS PROJECT WAS CURSED. OK? So many roadblocks happened when I was doing this. I had to do 1/3 of this with a mouse because I had to go on break and couldn't bring my tablet. But I finished it. "Oh but wait haxman you forgot the shadows" SCREW THE SHADOWS. If you want them so bad put them there yourself. It was enough work putting all the colors in. I had to put the lines in one document, the colors and backgrounds in another, render each one, convert them to wmv because sony vegas doesn't like mp4 files, then put the entire thing in sony vegas. Then I had to convert it to swf, which butchered the quality pretty bad but I don't care. That whole process was like putting my finger in a pencil sharpener. And yet I continued. I'm crazy, I know. And all that for about 2 minutes of film... not bad. Uh, there isn't any music either, so put your favorite backing track in the background or something.
It's my half of an art trade with . Said I could do whatever I want so I made an animation. Time taken = the better part of the month. I thought I'd be done in a week, but I underestimated the gayness of photoshop apparently. I made a lot of mistakes and learned a lot when making this. But what's great is that since it took so long, I was able to add little details that I couldn't have if I'd done it earlier. So there's that. I did the rough animation in photoshop, lineart in paint tool sai, then put it back in photoshop again and colored it. By the way, I still haven't taken any animation classes yet... but I think it's a good idea to start early. As a matter of fact, there's a couple animation errors in here that I couldn't be bothered to fix. Uh... if you find them, I'll feature your comment. It's not a bug, it's a FEATURE!
You know how sometimes you get an idea, and then you gradually add more and more things to it until it's something completely different? Well, that's exactly what happened with this piece here. Originally it was just going to be a picture of Yecow breakdancing, but then I drew like 5 different test poses and liked them all. Obviously this was going to be a problem if it were a static image. So then I thought, "You know what, I'll animate it." Then I thought, "There should be background characters too." And then I thought, "There should be a story behind it," and by that point I just decided to make it a short animation. I don't know why I do this to myself.
Honestly, I didn't think it'd turn out this way, but hey. I need to start practicing since I'll eventually take a course in 2d animation anyway. So now's a good time to start. Plus Yecow's a 1000000x better artist than me, so I wanted to do something unique to make up for the skill difference hahahahaha. His (?) characters are so fun to draw, I wonder if I got their personalities correct.
So this has the most frames I've ever done for an animation. I think it's pretty ok. The physics can probably be better, but I'm a beginner so it should be alright. I also tried to use his style instead of mine this time. I completely regret that decision by the way. I now remember the reason why I don't color lines a darker shade than their interior color; IT'S SO TIME CONSUMING. But it's really strange how many things you notice when emulating something else. (I never noticed that Black Bear had a mole until I drew him LOL.) Between the two of our styles, I've gotta say I'm more comfortable with my own. I like my lines to have width variation, which Yecow doesn't do (?!) and cell shading is so time consuming. Actually, everything about his style is time consuming. Why can't I go back in time and tell myself not to do this? I'm just kidding. (maybe.)
But I gotta admit, the end result looks nice. Or well, it did until I rendered it as a swf. If you want the full quality let me know and I'll put it on youtube or something.
Uh... yeah. I might do something like this again in the future, when I feel like it. Probably won't be as long as this one, but it'll be animated. Well, the stars have to align just right first. But I hope you enjoy. Actually, no. I know you'll enjoy it, because I gave up my soul to complete this. So, hey.

OH YEAH!! This is sooo AWESOME!! Who would’ve thought my OCs can dance too, hahaha!
I am thankful beyond words! I’ve never seen my OCs in an animation once, my dream is becoming a reality and you’ve made it possible. I Love amount of details you put in each frame, this really is time consuming and is way too much for an art trade and is a million times better than my static picture. A big part of me feels sorry for making you put too much effort into this animation which cost you a month’s worth of your precious soul. I wish I can repay you someday, somehow.
And Yiss, my newest OC made it here! Hahaha, and Yecow with that water coming out of his nose is just so epic I just can’t stop laughing!!! And also that epic dance move! Oh man, this is so precious!!

AYY! You liked it! That makes me glad. Truth is, I was having a lot of trouble conveying movement in the original picture I was going to do, so I decided to do an animation instead. But I kept getting more ideas so it got longer and longer hahaha. Uh, yeah. Your ocs seem the type to do some sick dance moves, at least to me. That's where I got this dumb idea xDDDD
Don't feel like you've gotta repay me though, I put myself through this on my own volition. lol. A month well spent if you ask me. Plus, you made it easy for me! That one reference image of Yecow in the different poses was a big help for all the movements and stuff. How'd I do in terms of emulating your style? Was it close enough to work? ahhaha
Yeah, when you posted that comic of Salamander I thought, "I can use this!" lol. And yeah, that part in the beginning was fun to animate as well. I was laughing when drawing it xD But yeah. Glad you liked it and thanks for making such awesome characters.

Hahaha, It happens to me too, sometimes you just can’t fit all your ideas in one picture. And nope its not a dumb idea, you’ve actually added more personality and life to my OCs by making them dance, haha!!
I’m happy to hear this, I’m glad you somehow enjoyed doing this animation too, and I hope it will be a stepping stone for more awesome animations and would somehow help you in your future career. Your emulations are very good, I love how they all look here, its strikingly similar to how I draw them. You’ve got the jaggedness of my male OCs and Priscillas somehow smoothiness (if that is even a word). Haha! Thanks again for this awesome piece!

That's what I'm hoping for as well! It's important to get practice so I can do the real thing later. I know what you're talking about with the difference between the males and females! I draw guys with more angular features and females with curvier ones. I think it helps the eye a lot. And you're quite welcome! Just wanted to show my appreciation for all the cool stuff you've made on here

What program you think i should start? Any reccomendations?
i am really inspired by this one and might try some small gif animation and see if from there if i have a talent for it hehe.

That'd be cool! I'm glad you got inspired The simplest way would be to use the art program you use now, and make a new layer for each frame. Then save each one as a picture and make it into a gif. I usually use paint tool sai for small stuff, even though it doesn't have animation tools or anything. But I also use a tool called Sai Animation peek that let's me see how it looks like before I save everything. Here's a little video that kinda shows how I do it www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVB7QJ…
Uh... yeah! Good luck with animating!
