Wow, I can't believe that it's already 2018, last year went by so fast. I didn't think that this would be my first drawing of the year, but here it is. This was originally supposed to be a small picture, but I got more and more ideas and it practically became wallpaper It may have taken me a lot longer but I think it was worth it.

I recently read Manga In Theory and Practice by Hirohiro Araki (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure author) and I was amazed by how helpful it was. In particular, one of the pages explained that many artists tend to draw only a few facial angles, which becomes really obvious over time. So I decided to draw an upwards facing shot of the face instead of the 3/4's or face on perspective that I usually draw. That combined with the factor of me recently finishing the Berserk anime is what made this image come into existence. I'm happy with how it came out!

I based this on the eclipse scene in the end of the show. It was fun to draw all the blood and monsters, though this is definitely the goriest thing I've ever drawn. The real question is though, is the blood on Guts from himself or from the monsters he killed? Probably both.
