Description
So we've moved on to portraits in my life drawing class. We finally had a dude today so I did pretty well. Trust me, you don't want to see the female portraits I tried to draw, they were awful. I think this guy kinda looks like President R.B Hayes hahaIt's conte on newsprint, not much else to say I suppose

This looks awesome! i love how you didnt shy away from using heavy shades on some areas with lighter shades that compliments the whole picture.
you should try mixing this style with your regular one and youll
be surprised how different your art style would look.

Thanks! Yeah, we started two tone drawings in class that day. Before that we'd only done one color drawings so this was new for me. I'm glad it came out well.
I wish I could use this style more! But every time I try it turns out really stylized. I had a model for this one so I just drew what I saw, but when I draw from my head it comes out like how I usually draw. Sad hours indeedΒ Β

Awww dont be sad!
art style change is something everyone cant learn in a day, its a process that will take you quite the adventure.
I have been drawing 2d looking people when I was just starting and no matter how hard i practice i just keeps coming back to that style until i realize that i am evolving slowly and i never even realizes it.
we improve through hard work and dedication and sometimes shortcuts wont cut it so be patient and keep practicing my friend and youll reach farther than youll ever dreamed of.

Yeah, you're right! Even now, people say that my art is changing. So I guess I'll get there eventually. Thanks for the advice!!

I've always held the idea that imperfections on a man's portrait can add character. I don't know why that isn't the case for most female portraits, but that's just how it is.
But, also, exceptional work!Β

Thanks! I've found that as well, guys can literally be drawn any way possible and it still works. Females kinda have to look a certain way or they just become men lol. That's my problem, the subtle differences are difficult. But I'm getting there, just gotta practice more.

Thanks! I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of drawing a little more realistically now thanks to my art teacher, who's a really cool dude. But yeah, maybe I'll post some more stuff like this in the future.
