Aha! The long awaited crossover is here (that nobody wanted but me!) that I was talking about. I know I'm not the best writer, so apologies in advance if the dialogue above is awful. It's a battle between Travis from No More Heroes and the Stranger from Furi. I'm a longtime Touhou fan, so when I saw Furi gameplay, I knew I had to have it on the Nintendo Switch. I read that it was inspired by No More Heroes in terms of character design, and that both of the main characters use lightsabers beam katanas to fight. So of course I came up with this ridiculous idea that they would fight over who has the best small studio game. (I'd use the term indie but I personally dislike it ) I used one of Travis' conceptual outfits in here as well, because it looked awesome.

Originally, I wanted to have a Touhou character take center stage as well, along with some laser bullets. But I found that that idea didn't really fit, so it was reduced to a background role. You can see her in the top left corner. Undying gratitude points if you can recognize her

In terms of the background, I was inspired by Star Wars Episode 3, where Anakin is fighting Obi Wan in the final scene. Hence the cheesy reference made by Travis xD
I personally think I'm getting better at backgrounds. It definitely helps to draw it along with the initial sketch of the drawing so you at least have an idea of what it's going to look like. Surprisingly the background didn't take that long to do, it took much longer to do the lighting and colors. I tried to replicate the shading style in Furi on the Stranger, and I think I made it work somehow. Overall I'm happy with how it turned out, hope you guys enjoy it too.
