It will be difficult for me to out-do this deviation. I will always be comparing whatever I post with this one from now on.

This is an incredible piece, Hax... really fabulous, professional-quality work. There's a piece that's very similar on [link] - do you work for UbiSoft and/or the Assassin's Creed team, or are you just a fan?

Hax09 In reply to cardgamerdebu [2011-10-30 13:55:14 +0000 UTC]

Hey Debureturns ! Thank you very much for your comment. Your support (and everyone's) gives me motivation to continue working harder and become better.

The link you sent was from Assassin's Creed's Official page. I guess you're referring to the background picture on there and the one on the front cover of Revelations. Well whilst I wish I could say I work for Ubi Soft the truth is I'm just a regular guy who is an Assassin's Creed fan.

I painted this deviation because I loved the composition of it and felt it would be a challenge to paint something so detailed as this.

Hello again!

Thank you for answering my question! I thought i'd seen the artwork before, and your version is so good that i thought it could be one and the same. To be honest, i think the detailing on your piece might actually be a little bit more pronounced, which is definitely a compliment to your abilities. Ubi are fortunate to have such a talented artist as a fan.

Thanks again Debureturns !
Yeah I think I may have gone the extra mile with adding details that may not have originally been there. The actual ACR wallpaper is more smoother in texture (which you can expect from a 3D rendering)

Assassin's Creed deserves the best I can offer. It has given me hours of entertainment and my world wouldn't be complete without it.

I couldn't have put it better myself - it's an incredible series. I haven't even touched the single-player storyline (beyond the first game); the multiplayer on it's own has sucked up more of my life than i can remember.

Do you play Brotherhood online? Perhaps we've met - maybe you've thrown me off a roof at some point.

Hax09 In reply to cardgamerdebu [2011-10-31 13:29:17 +0000 UTC]

I very much doubt it mate. I guess I'm the opposite because I've never touched the online mode EVER since I'm deeply immersed in the story mode. (It's amazing that I haven't even given it a try.) I guess the story, characters and location are the biggest attractions to me rather than the content and features. I'm simply obsessed with the historical and present day events surrounding the series. Both sets of storylines keep me on the hook.

Ohh, dude... i can't fully explain what you're missing! I would suggest giving it a try when Revelations comes out - it's a fabulous exprience. It's a similar experience to the single player game - i.e. stalking your prey on rooftops, mingling with the crowd, etc. - but your enemy is a real human being, and is doing what they can to evade you. So, the idea is to be super stealthy, blending into the scene as much as you can to take your opponent by surprise. It's fucking awesome, and i think if you got into it, you'd love it as much as the single-player game.

Hax09 In reply to cardgamerdebu [2011-10-31 17:57:31 +0000 UTC]

I shall give it a go. That is IF I am somehow able to turn away from the amazing storyline. The problem (or should I say best thing) about AC is that even after you've completed it because of the vastness of the settings there is just soooo much you can do
(minigames, Templar Agents, 100% Sync, Leonardo Machines etc.)
But I have to say online mode sounds very exciting. I'll be sure to play it when I buy Revelations !

cardgamerdebu In reply to Hax09 [2011-10-31 19:09:09 +0000 UTC]

It is incredible; i think i can almost go so far as to promise you that if you get into it properly, you'll enjoy it more than the single player. It's got an RPG style levelling-up system, where you earn bonuses and abilities at each level - there's a real onus there to keep playing and discover what's coming next. I will say that it requires a certain amount of play to really get in there properly, but the ends justify the means - besides, there's a welcome tutorial that's very easy and accessible.

When you get into it, i'd really like to hear how you get on, please (if you don't mind!). I'm pretty sure that you'll come back to me and be like 'why didn't i do this before?'. Perhaps we could even play a game together!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hax09 In reply to cardgamerdebu [2011-10-31 19:27:24 +0000 UTC]

Sure thing mate. It's sounding more and more promising by the minute. I'd love to play online with you. (Just promise you'll go easy on a novice like me) I'll let you know how it went for me when I get it.

I think Revelations is supposed to be a big upgrade from Brotherhood in terms of feature and online content so it would be great to see what they come up with this year. And even better for a new beginner like me.

cardgamerdebu In reply to Hax09 [2011-10-31 21:30:33 +0000 UTC]

It would be awesome to play against you! You're totally welcome to come to me with any questions you have about the game; it would be an honour to aid such an ardent fan of the game in any way i can. What i think you should do is visit my friend Bird's YouTube page; online Brotherhood is his fortΓ©, and he's uploaded a lot of multiplayer matches. The link is [link] - i think you might enjoy them!

As for Revelations, they've released information on just what is new about the game - it's basically the same great game, but with more maps and abilities. There are a lot of new features, but one i would suggest you start with is the Easy Multiplayer mode. I'm not trying to patronise, though - it's just a simplified mode that takes out all the extra bits (like additional abilities), and is just a case of the hunter and the hunted.

Basically, the idea of the multiplayer modes is that you're put into a map filled with people who look like you (and other players), and the computer tells you to kill another player - while at the same time, another player will be instructed to kill you. If you kill the wrong person, you don't get the points - it's a balance of trying to find your prey amongst the lookalikes, whilst also being careful to stay discreet and not do anything that would mark you out as being different to the crowd, like running or climbing. It's fucking awesome, and i know you'd love it.

The URL for the videos is [link] - i would suggest having a browse with a cup of tea at some point. You won't regret it!

Seeing as i'm sure you'll want someone to talk to once you get involved, how would you feel about us being friends? I'm in the UK too, and i'm an artist, so we've also got stuff in common - but even if it's just Assassin's Creed, at least we've got something to discuss.

Hax09 In reply to cardgamerdebu [2011-11-01 17:50:24 +0000 UTC]

Hey Debureturns. It's okay. You're not patronizing me. I am a beginner after all. I'll pick it up as I play. I'll take a look at some of those videos from that link later today. Or if I don't get the time I'll just try and work it out online anyway. Can't be too difficult once you get going.

The multiplayer mode sounds very exciting and original. I half expected it to be about just free-roaming and stabbing who you please. But it sounds like it's much more than that. I'll certainly give it a go when Revelations comes out.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

cardgamerdebu In reply to Hax09 [2011-11-01 18:30:17 +0000 UTC]

It's really not difficult at all - the tutorial is so short and simple, it'd be difficult to mistake what they're trying to tell you. As for the game itself, i thought similarly to you before i played it - i was like 'how can this game engine work in a multiplayer situation?'. I was expecting a mad melee like you get with first-person shooter multiplayer games, but AC is one of those games where if you run in there like an idiot, all guns blazing (so to speak!), you're going to get destroyed. The game is really about taking it slowly - there could actually be more emphasis on hiding out and trying to blend in with the scene, than the actual killing itself.

I was actually thinking about our discussion, and thought of a fitting analogy! Playing the single-player without experiencing the multiplayer is sort of like playing a game of Super Mario Bros. without the jump button - it's still a great game, but you're missing out on an integral part of the experience.

Anyway, i've talked for far too long. You'll find out in about ten days or so how great the game is - my part in that is already complete by passing on what i've experienced.

It would be a sin not to try online now ! I'm looking forward to Revelations coming out. Can't wait to get on it now.

Also, thank you for your detailed explanations on everything to do with online play. I appreciate the effort you made to explain it to a novice like myself. I hope to see you on the battlefield soon enough.

Safety and Peace x

MerrillsLeather In reply to ??? [2011-10-26 22:44:13 +0000 UTC]

freaking fantastic, to get that much detail seems absurd. did you start with a larger palate and then resize it after you were done? or end up drawing/detailing pixel by pixel?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hax09 In reply to MerrillsLeather [2011-10-27 00:31:17 +0000 UTC]

Thanks
I started off with a 1920 x 1080 canvas size in Photoshop. I then uploaded my finished work to Flickr (I always do this as Flickr sharpens the image ever so slightly making it look more higher in quality than my original jpg.)

Although the unfortunate thing about that is that it always shrinks the pic to 1024 pixels wide. (Screen size)

Did that answer your question ? I felt like I didn't understand properly.
