Description
I got sick of having so many self inserts of my friends and I, so I gave myself an exercise where I had to create five new original characters with literally nothing as inspiration. Blank slate. I was watching the Mariner's game with my parents, and the guy in the middle popped into my head and then it all just escalated...but, hey, I was successful! The whole premise of these guys is that they've known each other since they were babies. They all live in the same neighborhood, same street. I think I have it where Jamie, Amy, and Sophie (ha, rhymes) live on one side of the street (next to each other), with Chimo and Steven living across from them. Steven moves to the neighborhood when he's fifteen, though, so he's a total newbie.
I'll post the bios that I thought up, but don't feel like you have to read them. They're in order from left to right.
NOTES: Steven's t-shirt is an actual t-shirt from BustedTees. Here's a [link] .
If Chimo and Amy had a song, it'd totally be You're the Only One by Maria Mena. Word.
James "Skinny Ass" McQueen
Age: 15 (Sophomore)
Height: 5'8", quickly increasing
Family: Parents (Ed and Lucy McQueen), younger brother (Tyler, 12)
Drug of choice: football/soccer. He's an insane goalie, and does pretty damn well as a mid or forward.
Appearance: Kind of goofy looking. He's thin as a rail due to a sudden, rapid growth spurt (that's still going on). Really muscular legs and arms, could be described as "wiry". James' hair is almost always in need of a good trimming. His friends will seriously not recognize him for a few minutes when he gets a haircut.
Personality: Pretty quiet until you get to know him, James would probably be the "lone wolf" type if he hadn't been saddled with these guys. He lives and breathes football, and is in the habit of running five miles every day after school. Kind of addicted to being in motion, he rides his bike to and from school and wherever else he might need to go. One you're a friend, you're a friend for life. Loyalty could be his middle name.
Relationships: Closest to Sophie, who he thinks of as a little sister. Really looks up to Chimo, who he nicknamed "Chimo the Bambino" as a reference to Babe Ruth.
ETC: Plays lead guitar in a band with Amy, called Benevolent Blackout. Has a strained relationship with his little brother, who feels that he constantly has to compete with James. Called Jamie by most people, and "Skinny Ass" by Chimo. Ends up playing for the Seattle Sounders FC.
Sophie Clark
Age: 15 (Sophomore)
Height: 5'8"
Family: Dad (Eddie) (Mom, Laura, deceased since Sophie was six)
Drug of choice: Basketball, as a point guard. Mostly started playing as a way to feel closer to her mom, who was the star of her college team. Ended up falling in love with the sport, and aims to play in the WNBA.
Appearance: Tall, long legged, and pear shaped. In other words, gorgeous. Typically puts her hair into pigtails or a bun because it gets in her way, though she loves when she can just let it loose and have it return to its natural style. Almost always wears her mom's locket, with a picture of the two of them inside.
Personality: Sophie can be fairly mischievous, but the most part, she's a stereotypical daddy's little girl. Very sweet and kind to everyone she meets, Sophie is (casual) friends with almost everyone she encounters at Hamilton High. She does have a bit of a dark side, though; it's ill advised to get on her bad side.
Relationships: Jamie is her best friend, though she's also close to Amy. Thinks that Chimo is a bit of a goon, but puts up with him any way.
ETC: Classically trained in piano, but hates practicing. Her dad's a surgeon. Accomplishes her dream and plays for the Phoenix Mercury until retiring in her thirties.
Joaquin "Chimo" Rodriguez
Age: 17 (Senior)
Height: 5'10"
Family: Dad (Juan), Mom (Nina), sister (Maria, 6)
Drug of choice: BEISBOL. Chimo first got into baseball when he was really little and would watch it with his dad. Once he was old enough, Juan signed him for the local little league team. As they say, the rest is history. Chimo ends up getting drafted to South Carolina's college team and was given a full ride scholarship during his senior year after a scout saw him pitch a perfect game.
Appearance: Chimo is pretty tall. His eyes are brown, but have a pretty yellow tint to them. For some reason, Chimo thinks its insanely attractive to gel his hair into a fohawk, which his friends jokingly call his shark fin. No matter what he's wearing, Chimo looks relaxed. It's one of his weirder qualities.
Personality: Chimo plays big brother to everybody else. He can be a bit of a jerk to people when he's in a certain mood but is, at the end of the day, a people person. Chimo is cool with most everyone at Hamilton, though he's the arch-nemesis of Garrett Peters, the football captain. In most groups, Chimo adopts the position of leader. With his natural charisma and people skills, it's an obvious move.
Relationships: Always had a thing for Amy, and was pretty disheartened when she started to date Steven. Equally close to everybody, though he's always had a soft spot for Jamie.
ETC: Very close to his little sister, Maria, and is overly protective of her. Though his actual name is Joaquin, only his teachers ever call him that. Ever since he was born, his mom has called him Chimo. Everybody thought it was his actual name until they heard Chimo's dad yell at him and call him by his full name. Goes on to play MLB for the Oakland Athletics. He also pulls the typical hero move and gets the girl, finally confessing to Amy while a little tipsy when they went out to celebrate him being signed.
Amy Dawson
Age: 16 (Junior)
Height: 5'3"
Family: Dad (Ron), Mom (Carrie), older brother (Davis, 20)
Drug of choice: Crazy at it sounds, Amy's not a big sports person. She does play on the school's soccer team as a mid, but it's not something she spends her whole life worrying about. Amy's big love is of art and interior design.
Appearance: Amy's odd looking. She's got a pixie-esque body, with big eyes and wispy blonde hair. She's actually like a miniature version of her dad, though her dad's face is more masculine. Her style is a mix of function, comfort, and cuteness. Amy loves wearing skirts and edgy looking jackets. Jeans are also a common fixture in her closet.
Personality: Amy is pretty outgoing. She's very thoughtful and doesn't like to talk about it when something's bothering her. The only person she really opens up to is Chimo and, after a while, Steven. Amy's a bit of a worry wart.
Relationships: Has had a crush on Chimo since the first grade, though she always ignored her feelings because she believed he didn't feel the same way. Dates Steven through her sophomore and junior years, breaking up with him after he goes off to college. Don't worry, she's not a witch; she did have feelings for Steven. Gets along well with everybody, especially Jamie and Sophie.
ETC: Singer in a band called Benevolent Blackout, writes most of the songs. Uses songwriting as an emotional outlet. They eventually make it big, with three platinum albums. Marries Chimo when they're in their twenties.
Steven Asper
Age: 17 (Senior)
Height: 6'3"
Family: Lives with his mom (Daphne) after she divorced his dad (Ken). No siblings.
Drug of choice: This kid's lifeblood is hockey. He's either a winger or centre, not sure yet. He's stereotypically Canadian.
Appearance: Steven's got a shaggy, gentle giant look to him. His hair curls at the ends. Unfortunately, Steven's got perpetual helmet hair. His face is pretty long, with a chiseled jaw. His smile is probably his best feature, though it can be hard to make him grin. As he gets older, he smiles a lot more often.
Personality: Steven blames himself for his parents' divorce. He was pretty unhappy when he moved to Hamilton, though meeting Amy and Joaquin really helped him get out of his funk and realize it wasn't his fault. It takes him a few years, but eventually Steven gets over it and figures out that his parents' separating was a good decision. Very kind and with a soft spot for kids, Steven would be the ideal babysitter. Maturity and a strong sense of responsibility are two of his best points. With the course of time, Steven becomes more outgoing and reveals that he's got quite the hilarious side to him.
ETC: Carries the puck he first scored with in his pocket at all times as a good luck charm. Parents divorced when he was fifteen, after which he moved to Hamilton with his mom. Plays for the Toronto Maple Leaves as an adult.
Yeah, I made them all insanely successful. So, sue me.
I own these clowns. I doubt anybody would want to steal them, but hey...don't.

Wow, you've really improved since I last looked at your page! The only thing I would suggest is making the clothing (especially the shirts) appear to come off of the body more, rather than seem to be a part of it. Otherwise, good job.

Just figured I'd say that I love Jamie's shoes. And shark-fin amuses me. I'm impressed with these guys! Are you going to write about these guys? Comic? Obscure dance party?
And two questions: 1. What does it say under 'Blame Canada' on Steven's shirt? And 2. Are Amy's parents named Ron and Carrie on purpose, or was that just the greatest coincidence of the year?

THANK YOU. SRRSLY. I love these guys. Especially Canada Boy and Chimo. I'm actually working on a comic with Steven, but I only have a page of it sketched out. It might not even end up being a full-blown thing, but we'll see.
1.) for Nickelback hahaha
2.) BEST COINCIDENCE EVER. That wasn't even on purpose. It's just meant to be.
AND DUDE CHECK THIS GUY OUT. [link] . More specifically, read his Boxer Hockey comic. I seriously LOLed.
