Text here again:
-Hello and welcome to my shitty Normalmap-Tutorial!
-At first open the tab 'Material'
-Go to 'Sphere' and change it to the 'NM'-texture Download
-After you changed, go to the 'tab' right beside it and choose 'Sub-Tex'
-Change it everywhere where you want to have it. I deleted all the other spheres because it will look much better
-Save it (Tip: Make a new file)
-Open the NCHL2-Sample (or add it on your own)
-She should look like this now (With 'select' on the left; Without ´select' on the right | Down at 'Map Effect File' choose your model and add 'NCHLShader2.fx')
-After you added 'NCHL2Shader.fx' she should look like this (the hair is a bit bugged, I forgot to delete a sphere lol)

I'm sorry but I don't see the mistake myself. I can only suggest turning on double-sided, but I doubt it'd help.

I am pretty sure I followed everything in the tutorial when I tried to normal map this stage...
why does it look like this? i adjusted the size of the texture and everything...

yes it does work on raycast shader
open a material fx file in notepad++ to edit
scroll down to
#define NORMAL_MAP_FROM 0
change the 0 to 4 then it'll extract the normal map texture

same with ikpolishshader, but instead of putting in a normal map in pmxeditor you have to specify the file source in fx file by editing it in notepad++

I don't know. I've never used Raycast, but I can try to make a tutorial on it as soon as I know it!

Does this normal map only works with NCHL2 shader?
I don't really use NCHL2 shader due to graphic problem, is there any alternate shader I can use?

NamiKirigami In reply to ProjectHunterz [2017-04-09 04:06:52 +0000 UTC]
I think it also works with N2 + CS Shader. But that is basically NCHL2 + another shader.

Question - I have done all the steps, yet the maps do not show up. Do I place the NM folder in the NCHL2 Folder, or in the model folder for the model I am using?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
heartmuffinz In reply to Plaluci [2016-08-08 11:03:38 +0000 UTC]
In the models folder. Does your model look purple-ish? When yes, everything is alright.

Plaluci In reply to heartmuffinz [2016-08-08 18:12:07 +0000 UTC]
Odd. I have the entire folder inside, and I made sure that the textures are all named in PMXe, but nothing purple shows up. Am I supposed to delete everything else and just leave the .png's in the Model texture folder?

heartmuffinz In reply to Plaluci [2016-08-08 18:14:45 +0000 UTC]
If you want you can send me the model and I make it for you. Be sure that you choose "sub-tex" beside "sphere", if you forgot that

Plaluci In reply to heartmuffinz [2016-08-08 18:35:18 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! I've actually just figured it out. In PMXe I didn't know I had to add the path to the files, I just wrote them as "NM_Leather01.png" instead of "RT_Normalmap/Normalmap/NM_Leather01.png"

I have another question - Is it possible to change the # of repetition the map has? I'm not sure how to explain it. I applied a fabric map to the skirt but it seems too stretched out so I'd like to increase the number of the pattern so it looks smaller and more precise.

heartmuffinz In reply to Plaluci [2016-08-09 13:21:19 +0000 UTC]
I know what you mean, but I'm not really sure how. I have to look for myself. You can try to make the NM-texture bigger, but you have to duplicate those parts and add it again. Maybe that works

I noticed some TDA models has heavier TGA texure (non transparent one) that bypass 20 mb so having each of them eats up 2GB exept compressing them.

I'm not really sure what you mean, but I don't think 2GB should be happen, if I understand it correctly :/
