Biography
William Roberts was an ordinary priest from another world until one day as he was put in harm's way, a shapeshifting outsider saved his life, but putting himself in danger of the town's bigotry. Just as the townsfolk were about to attack the alien, William intervened and defended him for the rescue he pulled. Grateful for Billy standing by his side in his time of need, the alien, known as Skymax, gave him a Power Prism which Roberts used to become the costumed adventurer Doctor Spectrum. Impressed with the altruistic feats the two had done for one another, Hyperion, Nighthawk, and Zarda had offered them both memberships in the Squadron Supreme, and they joined without any hesitation. As the people of their world feared their power and turned against them, the self-proclaimed heroes forced the benign Doctor Spectrum to destroy their home planet and pursue another. Overcome with the guilt and despair of being forced into destroying innocent lives, Doctor Spectrum's Power Prism began to warp his stability and partially lose his control, which the Squadron believes could be of use to them in the near future.
