Description Joint project: Russian Shashka. Blade was forged from 1075 and the handle and final assembly was done by me and the bronze furniture was carved and cast by Albert Kohnke.

Wow that's a long blade! Are they usually that long on a Shashka? This is my first time even hearing about this type of sword.

Most of the blades on the ones I looked at were around 27-29 inches. This ones 29 inches.

I suppose it's comparable to some of their contemporaries, but I know nothing about Russian sword-fighting tradition. All I know is they had some strong cavalry swords. It's a very nice sword, you and your partner made something beautiful. Why this sword, though?
