I can't remember it exactly, but I think it was around 55-57 cm

It was around 65-70 cm in total.
And if you wish to have one, you can ask me to make you another. It is that simple

How much would that cost?

I really wish I wasn't so frugal so I'd buy one. But frankly, I'm not working right now and I'm a cheap bastard. (The reason I started smithing was so I never had to buy cool knives, I'd just make them myself ). But that short sword is well worth the asking price. Although Euro's to Canadian Dollars wouldn't be the best value for me

I understand. This is why I started too
If you change your mind, the price is 610 in canadian dollar in current time.

Aight buddy. If I were rich enough I'd buy all of your wares. You are my favourite craftsmen, that I've seen. Your damascus is incredible, and the historical feel they all carry is great. Lots of guys like blackened blades, kydex sheaths, plastic handles, that stuff turns me off. I only like raw materials like metal, leather, bone, antler etc.

thank you. I prefer natural stuff too, we might be soulmates

haha. By the way, do you make your blades for a living?

hellize In reply to HeathenFrisian [2014-04-27 09:22:57 +0000 UTC]
Yes. I had a "normal" job too, but I was fired 2 years ago and I couldn't find another.

Aw that's lame. But you do pretty well off of your blades, yeah? I can imagine it's more fun to do full time than a "normal" job.

Yeah, those were pretty grim times. I felt hopeless for weeks, but it slowly passed away.
It has it's ups and downs. Sometimes I do good and other times it's hard as hell. This is not like a real job, I don't have a regular income, which I could base on. So I can never overspend or let myself loose.
But on the other hand, I have lots of priceless free time

HeathenFrisian In reply to hellize [2014-04-27 22:09:45 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I think the trade off would be worth it. If I had a regular job, I'd be practicing knife making in my spare time, but if it's my job, I get to practice all day, then on your time off you get to do even more stuff you like to do. But not having regular income can suck some days. It would be worse if you have a family (I'm 20 and single so irregular income wouldn't matter to me much). Do you make most of your sales through shipping, or locally?

You see it correctly
I mostly ship my wares, very few are sold locally.

Ah cool. I guess with the kinds of things you craft, it'd be tough to find a strong local market, whereas online you're bound to find someone willing to spend money on cool stuff.

Sexy sword yo. Hey how did you grind that fuller down the blade?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
hellize In reply to kojakhan [2013-04-05 06:59:10 +0000 UTC]
It was simply grinded and it really needed a lot of time

lol, yeah but like... with an angle grinder? belt grinder? round file? I'm working on a falchion right now and I just want a small blood groove and I was thinking of a way to help me make it as straight as possible using an angle grinder.

I used a simple angle grinder. If you have a steady hand, than all you need is a new disc (to have perfect balance and eliminate shaking), and let it spin!

This ia great piece. Once again I have to ask how you did the fuller and how did you craft the throat? Beautiful work on the leather.

It looks kind of like a gladius.. I bet you know that's a Roman sword. Where'd you get the idea to start forging weapons ,because you do it great!

Sure I know I have made a historically correct gladius a few months ago.
