Not evil as Mordor) Actually there will be some characters you can tell they are "evil"
But they will have they own truth and goals to achieve.
I think Windhall empire is more like a high organized military structure.

That's good to here. I know that the "evil empire" is popular, but it's refreshing to see a take on an empire that seeks to be pragmatic and realistic rather than Crusader-pure or Satanist evil.
And regardless of my story questions, your artwork is fantastic. Love your character designs.

I'm seeing some simalarity to the Star Wars Royal Guards to the Emperor.

I bet I am one of the few people who can see where you drew inspiration from. On the left would be an imperial storm trooper with the white helmet. On the right would be the blood guard or guards of the Emperor in red. Star wars. Very cool and subtle. I like it.

These strongly remind me of the soldiers in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Excellent work. I've always had a soft spot for the Sallet/Bevor helmet design.

Дизайн приятный, без переизбытка лишних деталей)
Правый няшный, такой коротыха (из за руки, наверное так кажется))) Наряд не самый удобный, зато внушительный, это наверное такой стражник, чтобы пижонить у дверей каких-то)
Левый очень нравится, но чуток смущает тенью под ремнём и отсутствием полы сзади)
Это я придираюсь наверное просто из желания, чтобы такое крутое было совсем идеальным)

I realy like these. Just one question, I am assuming that the Empire is the antagonist in the novel due to the look and feel of these troops. Why are Empires always evil?

...Cool drawings. I really like the style and colours.
...But two things:
1) the guy on the right looks like part of Imperial army, yes, but this on the left side... not so much; maybe it's because the direct comparison; if they weren't presented simultainously - effect would be different
2) also - I'm not a fan of this sword sheath on his back; maybe it looks cool somehow but in fact - it is really impractical - and in my opinion - Imperial swordsman should be all about practicality
Don't get me wrong - I love this drawing, I really do - but it hit me that sth is wrong with this guy on the left.
