Description
Because of too much work and other issues, I haven’t had as much time as I wanted to paint personal pieces lately, and this is the result of that. I’ve been working on this on and off for about 2 months, which is not how I usually work at all. I felt that I lost the connection with this piece so I just decided to finish it before ruining it further
Again, another Call of Cthuhlhu inspired piece, and the guy is kind of a portrait of myself. Don’t ask why :-P
Painted using Photoshop and a Wacom tablet. Reference used for the character.

I know what you mean about losing contact with a picture because you never get to work on them much but wish I could ruin a picture as well as this. Its great.

I can understand the need for taking a break after a day of monster-killing, but wouldn't it be more restful if the remains were moved out of the office first?

Overall it's fantastic but there are a few things bothering me.
1. the skintones
The face hast lots of orange in it but the environment ist still very green/blue
2. the blood effects on the window

Wow! That's an amazingly intense piece with a huge carnal feel to it. Extremely sexualized, it felt like a trip through someone's viscera. I loved the addition of the Venus fly trap which had that hollow for a head (it looked like). The tendrils really contrasted it, and the blood added another visceral element. I'm more disturbed by how much the picture "gets away with" -- and I mean that in a really positive way. I mean that the content and nature of the picture is pulled off in an inoffensive manner (at least to me), and my appreciation of the image proved more disturbing than how disturbing the image was. It's a very well done, and despite your note, very complete image. Still, I can understand your feeling like it wasn't a polished piece because of how polished your style felt. Still, I thought that any finishing touches that weren't added really helped add to the contrast between viscera and the subject's calm, cool demeanor. Well done!

wow - that's amazing... really love the mood conveyed by the main character.
colors are amazing as well, just very nicely done overall. It sucks that you felt that you lost focus on the piece - but it really does look quite solid (imho)

The thing I enjoy most with this picture is the fact that this is a completely horrific and the person is just acting like it's an everyday scene and pays not attention to it at all.

Hey Henning. Yeah he looks like he deserves a break! I love how realistic it is, as usual i am astounded by your skin painting. The look on his face is priceless - it kinda adds a sense of humour to it which I love. "Ruin it further"? If that's the case I wish my ruined pictures were as ruined as this

Awesome, being able to analyze it a bit it does give some interesting answers... Like you have been so busy working that you're taking some breaks... still having the work lying around an wait for you...
It being a Cthuhlhu, could mean that either you love the subject or you wading through Cthuhlhu-work at the moment..
