Description
This painting was made for an article on values for ImagineFX magazine: [link]
There's also a looong movie showing how I painted this piece on the dvd that comes with this issue. This is the first time I've been recording whilst working, and it was a bit wonky. Guess I need a faster computer to be able to do this without noticing any lag, heh.
Anyways, just another of my tentacle pieces. The guy in question is a colleague and friend of mine named Trond, posing with his Cthulhu spawn pet.
Painted using Photoshop CS2 in about 4-5 hours.

If i may ask a question regarding the video - at one point the tentakle suddenly look wet - did you use a special filter there?

I'm not usually for using filters, but have learned that when done discreetly, it might be worthwhile. I made a copy of the layer with the tentacles and added the "plastic wrap" filter, played with the layer blending styles (I think I used overlay), and adjusted the opacity to make it more subtle

I thought i'd commented on this, oops! It's always a pleasure to view your new artwork, unlike a few others where I know what to expect your artwork always continues to impress with new heights of realism and interest. Fantastic lighting and awesome skin painting, not to mention the slimey tentacles, i look forward to seeing more from you soon both on here, PB and IFX.

Hey Henning,
Your tutorial on IFX (both print and video) for this picture was thorough on the subject and has really given me alot to think about. Not only that tutorial alone, but I've been following many of your articles on your site and in previous issues.
Thanks a bundle.

Thanks, hehe.
This is actually a different Trond. Still, the funny thing is that they also look kind of similar in real life. Was waiting for someone to mention this. Kinda funny :-D

Wow! Really impressive image! Although.. it somehow feels that the characters head feels a bit more realistic than the rest of everything? Not because tentacles and green smoke is unreal but in the manner of how you painted it...
It's a really stunning image Henning, as usual!
