What a wonderful idea! Placing the picture in this orientation just gives it an outragously amusing look! And the eyes looking toward the negative space add some inexplicable yet undeniable appeal.
I would agree with Olya, however, that a bit more depth of field might have added a touch more interest with sharply focused hair... But then again, you're the photographer. And I could also see the point of narrowing the focus (and thus attention) on the exquisite expression of the eyes.
Essentially very well done. I like this quite a bit and I'm glad to see some more of your skilled and artistic photography!

Interesting concept and angle, but slightly confusing...it's the upside down part.
My brain (I know...I know...what brain) is having trouble wrapping around it.

Very cool - I shot something like this once, but went to great pains to brush the hair out very evenly and uniformly. This works much better, really supports the illusion and the suspension-of-disbelief.
Of course the contrast is aces, the composition perfect, and that eye expression is priceless! The eyes are definitely what make the shot.
"Inapt?" I like that a ton...
By the way, I think the aperture is perfect, because of the resulting motion illusion in the hair.

it reminds me splittingly of hair commercials (where the hair looks like sun rays, but i can't remember which one) and of an actual sun. i love how you've spaced the hair.
maybe a larger apperture to get a bigger depth of field.
