Description
This is my reference sheet for "Rika Isoni." She is one of the new fan-characters that is going to appear in "Maho Shoujo Rika Magika," a Maho Shoujo Madoka Magika-based fan-manga project of mine. I styled it in the same manner as similar reference sheets I've seen for this. This should give you a good idea on how Rika is supposed to look. Rika is the main character of this, and plays a rather big role in it too, despite not being a Maho Shoujo just yet.
Rika Isoni was a 15-year old schoolgirl living in Mitakihara Town. She always thought there was not much more to her life than practicing athletics, hanging with her friends, and living at home. When she later meets up with a peculiar girl in a gray Maid Outfit, who appears to possess strange abilities and claims to have something to do with something called, "Kyubey," she becomes involved in a large and supernatural chain of events that are occurring throughout, even in her own town.
Rika Isoni is rather athletic and is always up and ready to do something exciting that she doesn't usually get to do. She does not get scared or frightened easily, and she often times can be rather curious. She is not very much of a fighter, but she will try to defend herself by any way she can if she has to and help her Maho Shoujo friends out too, and she does not usually show cowardice, even when the odds are against her.
At first, Rika did not think about or believe much in magic or supernatural phenomena, but after joining up with the Maho Shoujos, she absolutely astonished and amazed by the things the can do and the stuff they are involved in. She is so awe-inspired by how uncanny and out of the ordinary the Witches and their Barriers can be, and is so amazed by how both the Maho Shoujos and Witches can do things that shouldn't be physically possible. What's even more interesting to her is how apparently there have been Witches in Mitakihara Town for years, but she never noticed it for all that time, and yet this stuff was happening in her own town and across the world for longer than she's lived. As such, she goes along with the Maho Shoujos on their adventures and Witch Fights, not only because some of her friends are involved, but also because she finds these events and more with the Witches and such to be very exciting and incredible, and she wants to be able to experience it all herself.
Later on, when Kyubey appears to her and asks her if she would like her wish granted, Rika considers it, but does not actually do it, as for she cannot decide on what to wish for, as for one wish for anything at all is a rather big decision and she doesn't want to waste it. However, some events that happen to her later on makes her re-think if making a contract with Kyubey is a good idea or not.
Hope you all like her. I plan to use Rika in some future artworks of mine too, including the said fan-manga project that I am currently in progress of making, which will be called "Maho Shoujo Rika Magika." She will be appearing in it as the central character of importance there too.

I'll be talking of the character herself and not this drawing but let's start with appearance:
I'd say I am rather fond of her design and her color scheme. Especially her eye shape it looks rather unique and cute. there is a slight symmetry issue in her close up though but it's just a nit-pick.
for the main character of the manga she looks pretty good as well albeit "bland". let's start with the positives though: she doesn't feel lie a clone of Madoka herself. That's not to say it's bad to share traits with her but outright copying is a no-no. In my opinion Madoka is the weakest character in the show. It's great that she doesn't believe in magic at first and it would be a great experience react to the new world presented to her. It's also nice to see she's athletic as well... however I still feel like she needs to be more interesting. That's not to say she isn't but If I were you I'd make her more complex. but then again that's just me.
In addition she's FAR from being a sue in my opinion so that's always a good thing
overall you did a nice work and I'm looking forward to the manga ^^

Yes that is so. But even so she does manage to help out despite not having powers.
Think of her kinda like characters like Tom from the new Sonic Movie who despite not having powers manage to help out and were brave enough to fight such foes despite that limitation and were not such cowards as a result. That’s kinda what Rika is like.

I like her. She's very adorable, and I like how her reasons for getting involved are creative too. It sure must take guts to wanna go along on those journeys with them, and it's neat how she finds it to be more mind-blowing and incredible rather than freaks out in cowardice. I guess it's the legitimate thrills that make it all the more exciting and enjoyable, right?

Heck, it would be cool if at one part, Rika gets a gun probably stealing it from her parents or something, and then attempts to take on a Witch herself. I doubt she'd actually stand a chance, but it would demonstrate her bravery how much she's willing to do something like that against such an enemy.
I just hope that Rika doesn't end up playing with fire too much, and ends up doing something that she deeply regrets. / /(◕‿‿◕)\ \

Heh, I've seen that scene from Little Busters, though Rika wouldn't be so hesitant about using the gun, and she'd be more willing to kill those supernatural creatures if it meant helping her friends and getting in on all the action. Just because she doesn't have powers yet doesn't mean she can't be awesome.

Great Madoka Girl. I have a Juubey-like Incubator...but it likes recycling the Magical Girls' weapons/uses a long javelin to gouge them if they disobey 'it'.

Rika's pretty darn cool, isn't she, and she isn't a big fraidy cat like Madoka before her contract was. Heck, she also comes along because she wants in on all the action, and isn't easily scared.
Though sooner or later, she'll find that she's been "Playing With Fire" a bit too much. Poor Rika.

Thank you! She's my favorite out of my Maho Shoujo FCs. And she's not only cute, but she's rather brave too. She's not some scaredy-cat girl. And despite not yet having powers, she does her best to help out her Maho Shoujo friends in any way that she can, and wants a front-row seat on all the action!

Well not too nervous, but yeah, she'd be more willing to take it. Heck, she's the kind who doesn't freak out so easily when monsters are after her, and would be willing to punch them in the fact to try and fend them off, that is if she at least stands a chance against them. She's got guts!
Well you should watch it. It's a Super Cute and Action-Packed Magical Girl anime, and I know how much you like Magical Girls (judging from all your Sailor Moon art). Though it's more serious than Sailor Moon, but also more action-packed too, and with enemies who are more legitamate threats than Queen Beryl and her minions are.

I tried joining some other Maho Shoujo RP groups on DA before, and the people there treated me like jerks, said mean things about me, humiliated me in front of all their friends, said I was stupid because I like Sonic, Megaman, Strike Witches and Rozen Maiden, called me a "Bad Fan who doesn't understand the series," and made me want to cry.
This happened with two different Maho Shoujo groups I attempted to join on DA. I don't want that to happen again. So I'm not sure if I wanna join or not.
And yes, they said they would be nice at first, but they lied to me. I'm not sure right now.

Well,you can always try it out, I also plan on in the future having branching off chat rooms for just specific people. Like say you wanted to only chat with you two friends, you can have a private chatroom. The main group is really for just meeting people to role play with and showing of your character

Yes, she certainly is. She may not yet be a Maho Shoujo yet, but she still is rather brave, unlike Madoka who freaked out like a coward at the Witches and their minions. In fact, Rika would even punch a Witch Minion in the face to try and fend them off if she had to, she's no fraidy cat in those situations, although she isn't reckless either though. She also finds the Maho Shoujos and Witches to be amazing, due to all the incredible things they can do and how interesting they are to her.
Unfortunately though, this has made her a prime target for Kyubey. Kyubey thinks that she'd make a great Maho Shoujo due to her bravery and interest in what the Maho Shoujos and Witches can do, but the only thing holding Rika back on that is her inability to decide on a wish.

I'd compare her more to Brad from My Life as a Teenage Robot, or Shute from SD Gundam Force, who are also brave like that, and despite not having powers, do their best to help out however they can. Also unlike Madoka, is that Rika's reason for tagging along with them isn't only because her friends are doing it (though that is one reason), but also because she is amazed by the stuff they go through, and she wants to see it all for herself. In a sense, Rika is sort of a "Victim of her own curiosity."
But yes, she does certainly have balls. In fact, in one scene I have planned for Rika Magica, Haruka is in the middle of a Witch fight and tells Rika to stand down because she isn't equipped to handle the situation, but Rika refuses and says "just because I don't have powers like you, doesn't mean I can't help." She then ends up grabbing one of Haruka's SMG's from her and although she doesn't use them nearly as well as Haruka does, she just goes out and helps out anyways.
Also, a little something else I'd like to mention. Some of Rika's qualities I based off of myself (although not completely as to not be a self-insertion).

Another thing I would like to mention to you about Rika.
Remember that silhouette of a girl who appears when Quitterie is charging up? In my project, Rika Magica, that silhouette is supposed to be of Rika, since Rika becomes Jo's best friend (and Jo is the Maho Shoujo who eventually becomes Quitterie). It relates to how their friendship will affect things later on too, and it's sort of like that Kyousuke silhouette that appears in Oktavia's barrier as well.

So this is the girl who has not made a contract yet...
I can imagine that if Amane met her, she would do anything to convince her NOT to become a Magical Girl at this point. 
The problem is, if Rika met Saki before, then the situation could turn for the worst. Saki loves being a Mahou Shoujo because it allows her to protect the city and the people she loves, but she ignores all of the dark secrets around it. Ironically enough, even though she has the best of intentions, she would be a very bad influence for Rika. =/ I can even imagine a sad scene where Amane gets angry at Saki for influencing Rika's decision, and Saki not understanding what she did wrong...
I wonder what destiny awaits Rika... (^^)

Well now, let me get to replying to this. Sorry if its a long reply, but its to compliment your long comment and explain things right.
Well first of all, I'd like to let you know a little something. I actually based Rika Isoni quite a bit off of myself. Most of her traits and personality (though not all of it), is much like me. Yes, I know its sort of a Self-Insertion, but she isn't completely like me, and in fact, this has been actually helpful with visualizing things for my Fan-manga series, Maho Shoujo Rika Magika, and more.
Next up, Rika originally didn't think much about magic and stuff like that, till she met the Maho Shoujos (or Puella Magis as you like to use). When she did, she was absolutely astonished and amazed by the things the can do and the stuff they are involved in. She is so awe-inspired by how uncanny and out of the ordinary the Witches and their Barriers can be, and is so amazed by how both the Maho Shoujos and Witches can do things that shouldn't be physically possible. What's even more interesting to her is how apparently there have been Witches in Mitakihara Town for years, but she never noticed it for all that time, and yet this stuff was happening in her own town and across the world for longer than she's lived. She isn't scared or intimidated much by the Witches and Witch barriers, but more amazed.
For instance, in one part of my series, when they meet with Lydia The Night Witch (whom you told me you checked out earlier), Rika's first response to seeing Lydia is like "Whoa, totally freakin' wicked! A Witch that is piloting a huge ship!" Then Mami corrects her and tells Rika, "No, this Witch isn't merely piloting the ship, The Witch IS the Ship!" After hearing that, Rika becomes even more astounded, seeing that some of the Witches can be a lot less humanoid than she thought.
Another good example. If Rika were to have gone to Gertrud's Witch Barrier (which by the way, she doesn't in this, but if she had), her reaction would be very different, and not like Madoka's reaction. Rika would not be frightened very much and such about the barrier and such. Rika would be more like, "Wow, this is amazing! Its like a pop-up book like I read in kindergarten brought to life! I can hardly believe my eyes!" And when Gertrud's minions started attacking, Rika would probably not be as scared, and she'd probably even punch them in the face herself, just to fend them off. She's not that easily intimidated and when she is, she can be very brave and is willing to face her fears most of the time. She does get scared, but not that easily, and she can deal with her fear most of the time. Then when they fight Gertrud, Rika would be like "Wow, I never thought the Witch would be like that, unbelievable!" After Mami won and the barrier dissolved and the Grief Seed appears, Rika would then be so amazed. Rika would then be like "Wow, did you see that! It was Phenominal! Gertrud was all like SNAP! CRASH! WHOOSH! But Mami went all BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! POW! ZIP! KABOOM! She totally kicked butt! That was the most coolest thing I've ever seen! Yeah!"
I hope that explains why Rika actually wants to go with them on their adventures, and why she acts that way. Do you understand better now?
However, Rika is sort of unhappy that she's not able to share this with anyone but the other Maho Shoujos. She knows that no one else would believe her, since normal people can't see the Witches when outside their barriers, and the Maho Shoujos almost never show their powers in public. If she told the others at Mitakihara School, most likely they wouldn't believe her and think that she's crazy. She wishes that she could prove it to them somehow though. For now though, she sort of has to settle with only experiencing it herself and with her Maho Shoujo friends.
Now as for her and her contract. Rika sort of wants to make a contract because of all the amazing stuff she has been through, and that she'd be able to do it herself now. However, Rika can't decide on a wish, and she doesn't want to do it until she can think of something good to wish for. One wish is a pretty big decision. She has a few ideas over the course of the series, but can't decide which would be best. I don't want to go farther, but you'll see if she makes the right choice or not.
If she met Amane, I bet Amane would probably act like Homura and tell her lots of reasons why she shouldn't do it. She would probably do a lot to convince her. It would be cool to see how that would turn out.
However, considering how her Maho Shoujo friend, Jo Ayara, is rather happy about it and such, and how Rika likes Jo so much, I think Rika would probably be influenced a bit more by Jo and not consider Amane as much. Then with Murasaki also telling her similar, since she also appears to enjoy it, Rika would probably want to do it more, due to two of them telling her yes now. In fact, the only thing making Rika not want to form a contract now is her inability to decide on what to wish for, and if she were to decide on a wish, she'd probably contract in a flash. The results of those ones telling her yes and no would be quite a lot on her, I'd love to see how it would turn out though if she met Murasaki, Amane, and the others.
Well, this whole series, Rika Magika, is coming along slowly, but steadily. Rika is the most important character in this, and I'll tell you that her fate does become rather tragic and such. Don't want to spoil too much
However, I'll let you know that Rika DOES NOT become another Goddess Madoka or anything like that, but her fate and role is very important. Just so you know.

Are you sure? I'm looking at her and I honestly don't see it. She doesn't look like a Madoka recolor to me at all. If anything, I think she looks similar to Azusa Nakano from K-On, and even that's only a partial similarity.

Its not Madoka. Madoka is shorter in size than that, and she also doesn't usually style her hair in those long, Miku-esque twintails. The reason that she wears a similar uniform is because pretty much all the girls in Maho Shoujo Madoka Magika wore those same schoolgirl uniforms. Even Sayaka and Homura wear the same thing as her when not powered up.
So you know Alex, she's the one character in my Fan-manga Project, who decides to go along with that one Maho Shoujo FC in the maid outfit, and she did not make a contract yet, but she thinks about doing it. Hope this clears things up.

I dunno why you think that. She looks a lot different from Madoka to me. Also notice that her eyes are a different color, different overall hairstyle, and other stuff too. I suppose Sayaka looks like a blue-haired madoka to you too then?

Your trademark leaps in logic aside, she does look like Madoka with white hair, regardless of small details you pretend make her completelly different. There is no way to deny just how derivative and unoriginal this design is.
It may fit the style of the show, but shows no creative thought whatsoever, which, like the whole project itself, offends me.

I plan to release some artworks soon of her actually doing stuff. Also stay tuned for the reference sheet on her "peculiar friend with special powers." Her friend is even cuter, and has some really neat powers too.
