So I made myself one. Only evidently I didn't try hard enough. I was under the impression the term worked for any oddly colored canine who wore silly human clothing. But it seems there are more stringent stipulations!I was thinking, while I was working, how ludicrous I wanted to make it, and decided to go rather conservatively. There aren't any absurdly bright, clashing colors are completely ridiculous accessories. But it's got some piercings and human type hair and textiles. Oh, and the glasses. I had a bit of a chuckle at the glasses.
Way back when I used to design lion characters for no real reason other than the fact that it was entertaining. I have a few silly lion characters. No sparkledogs
I managed to dodge that bullet. Until now. Or is he a wolf? I don't know. A wolf/dog cross.
'Sparkledog' makes me think they should sparkle in the sunlight. That just makes me laugh all the harder.
THEY DAZZLE ME D8<As a bit of a disclaimer, I don't have anything against anyone who does draw what would be termed a sparkledog. If that's what someone enjoys drawing, then that's what they should draw.

Sparkledogs usually have more than one pattern on them with various different colors mashed in preferably of neon rainbow colors Lol. Whereas yours has lovely natural occurring patterns and deeper shades of the same color.

A sparkledog is more commonly known as a 'desudog'...one that is overly cute and or with traits such as huge eyes, humanistic hair, un-natural colors, clothing, large tails, and humanistic facial expressions.

Ooooo it's a somewhat derogatory term for all the many.... MANY canid characters around DA (and other places) that just sort of don't make sense. They have crazy rainbow colors and silly human attributes like human hair and headphones and swords and so on.
They upset some people, but I say: if the person drawing them enjoys it, rock on

I think the real drama about sparkledogs is based on the actual attitudes the people who draw them are supposed to have. Some of them are actually nicely drawn, and the colors can be fun, but the self-wanking and e-whoring some of the creators do tends to put people off. *shrugs* I've just read about flame wars started by such-and-such drew such-and-such sparkledog, and such-and-such drew ANOTHER sparkledog, and the first person thought they ripped off their picture, and threw bitchfits all over the place. You can never tell, though. You'll have those types of people in ANY hobby or art trend.
