Description
the second part ofit gets into the method a little more and includes some of my process. Don't take these drawings as anatomically perfect. I am not telling you how to draw a certain figure, rather, how to teach yourself how to draw figures.
Edit: Sorry dudes; I see a few wee spelling and grammatical errors but it's soooo late and I'm in bed. I'll fix them in the morning.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I often stress about my sketching process but I'm staring to realize that I'm not even supposed to nail a pose in the first try. Your tutorial made me feel so much better.

I am so thankful for these tutorials that you have made. Sidenote: You should write a book Β But seriously.... Just last night I drew, painted and completed a piece only to look at my final painting and realize it was HORRIBLE. Just awful. I won't post it here because it's that bad. But thanks to this little nugget of helpfulness, I look at it as a learning experience, and not as a complete fail. :3 Thank you again for these wonderful tutorials!!

Great tutorial, very nice and thorough. The bonus section is indeed a bonus, because aside from art itself, much of the advice (if not all) can be applied to many aspects of life, and anything regarding work that requires a level of passion.

And I was just wondering what brush settings do you have during sketching like in this tutorial? c:

All the art done in this one is pencil. So no brushes to speak of. :F

Thank you very much for sharing your processes with us It's really interesting to see how a more developed artist thinks. Just out of curiosity, when is a good time to put down the studying and just draw? I have relied so heavily on copying references that I actually can't draw much on my own, and I'm having a hard time learning when it's OK to move forward, even when the drawing could be better-- sort of like the one-pot students in your example. It's tough to know when to quit lol.

The additional tips near the end really touched me as a person, because I'm just an amateur artist and I have been doubting myself for quite a while now, wondering if I have hit my limit. I never wanted to believe that, but seeing your words really inspired me. I'll practice more and keep trying!
Thanks a million!

I will read and cherish every word (only got halfway now, and completely loved it so far =^_^= But bedtime, will continue tomorrow )
Hoping to see more in the future!
With your knowledge I'm sure you could easily fill a book of these, and they would sell.

Great advice hibb, it's important to not get too frustrated and down on yourself when your drawing just isn't working and instead think about why it isn't working. what are you not understanding? Going through some of my old stuff I found some things I abandoned over some small thing I couldn't fix at the time, but with lots of practice you can figure out how to fix the issues and come back to it again later.

I unintentionally developed the ability to gesture poses in my head before drawing them. I never took this information to heart but it somehow sunk into my head, anyway, due to frequent practice.

Oh wow, that last bit pretty much just describes me in my art life right now. It's something that hit me last year, around August, and I've just been plugging away ever since. It really sucks, cause it's a lot of time and effort, and you've pretty much called out the feelings perfectly (self doubt, frustration, the whole nine yards). I've seen many an artist say all that, but you've put it so much more perfectly.
The whole tutorial was very useful, but that last bit just made me happy <3.
Thanks for posting!

This is helping alot!!!!
Are you making one on colors as well? My main problem with creating something is that I can't really color it in photoshop because I never learned.
I can vector lines, but then I get stuck :/
Youtube videos dont really help much because I have to pause them so many times. Your explanation is clear - therefore I ask.
If you cant or wont, its understandable. Just saying it would help so much :3

wow.. wow... just wow.. i feel its a fate that brought me here.. the words you said at the bottom are really , really empowering. it basically answers all my self-doubt in art now. I just realized that i'm just being too hard on myself.. thank you, thank you so much, i think you could be a very good teacher. :') and also you have a heart of gold for sharing your insights. everything you shared here is just so crystal clear.. as if i had a revelation lol!
i want you to know how much this means for me.. i hope that find this earlier.

I see someone has a somewhat disturbing fascination of a deathly skinny, nude Voldemort.......... LOL!!!
I must say you have provided some Very useful and motivational information here. It has pushed me in a forward direction, which I greatly thank you for! Number 2 I found Most helpful at this stage of my learning. Indeed I suffer most from trying to draw a complete and flawless picture every time I pick up a pencil. Relaxing my lines and just drawing for the sake of drawing is something that's almost unattainable for me. The problem I have most is construction lines. This being, what to do with them after I no longer have a need for them? Though after seeing your examples here,I now understand how they benefit me and can see how they can latter be removed for the completed piece.
Great tutorial,Please keep up the great work!

This is one of the most inspiring tutorials I've found, and I think it's more because of your advice than the actual drawings. As much as I also hate drawing feet, this whole thing makes me want to just go practice drawing feet
