Description
believe it or not, after years on the lionking fanart archive, this is my very first picture of simba. Why? Because Simba is a little dork. That's right, I didn't like him at all. I thought he was a brat, and a coward in the first movie and a dope in the second one. But Then I saw the french version of the Lion King, and he had a totally different personality. I felt sorry for the french him. Maybe it's just that Jonathan Tailor Thomas kid that bugs me, I dunno. I rushed the BG because I'm really really really really tired, but wanted to get it done before sleeps. Anyway, enjoy. Thought I did pretty good for no sleep and no refs.Related content

Aw, you don't like Simba? Well, I liked him as a cub but when he got older he was a cry baby for such a big guy. Anway, this is really great! Looks like a clip off the movie with the background and all. Great work!

For no sleep and no refs you did pretty good indeed ^^. But what else can one expect from a professional Lion King fan artist, ey?
Personally I think his eyes are a wee bit too small, and that makes him look a bit older naturally. Otherwise he looks great! I mean, actually I also like him for looking a bit more mature. ^^

I dunno, I wouldn't want it if it's a DTV film like 1 1/2. It's such a delicate subject, so it'd be easy to screw up if they're only doing it so quickly for the money. :\

well, sense it's just a fictional supposition anyhow, let's say that it would be high quality. TLK2 wasn't THAT bad... and 1 1/2 had some pretty good animation. They'd just need some smart heads to do the story. Undoubtabley they would screw it up and milk it. But we can still dream, eh? ^_^;;

Pbbbbbbbbt. Sorry I put off replying to this.
The biggest obstacle they'd have in making it (seriously) is finding the right way to potray Scar in his youth. They'll never make everyone in the fandom happy no matter what they do. As long as they don't make him 100% bitter and evil straight out of the womb and on the other hand not make him a total spineless wimp at first I'd be happy. On the same thought, being the big Muffy fan I am I'd hope they wouldn't make him be a jerk to him like I know some fanfics do. Brotherly teasing is one thing, but being a bully is another. o.O

that's OK. I'm surprised you hung onto the comment so long.
Anyhow, yeh, it would be really hard. It is a thing, perhaps, better left alone. But still, I think I'd like a little resolution to the mystery, as long as it were done right. I like Mufasa a lot too. Hmm, yush, it's a tough one, that.
...wow... Country Crock is making side dishes in a plastic tub that you put in a microwave. Yuck!
Anyhow, I was watching the movie other day, and it seems like they really weren't very close. Perhaps Muffy was chosen from the get go as future king and it made a wedge between them from the beginning? I dunno, but it didn't seem much like Muffy was too terribley concerned about him in tha movie.
I'm curious to know what you think of CotPL. It was all the rage way before I joined the archive and had cooled down by the time I did, but I read it anyway. Well, some of it. I found it got rather tiresome after Scar and Muffy's childhood. It was more like a script for a daytime drama than a real novel. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but I like some sort of solid plot and a clear direction in my literature. How do you feel about its Scar explaination?

Yus. I made a little topic about Scar and Muffy's relationship in the movie a few years ago, and Snowy ended up making another novel of a post that totally scared me away from posting again. X) The main thing that came out of it was that their distant-ness was long in building, Mufasa probably did care in the beginning when they were younger, but Scar was probably the distant type, but Mufasa being next in line made it even worse. I thought that maybe Scar thought he was intellectually superior to Mufasa and maybe even his father, and so he should be king. He is rather condesending to most everyone he talks to.
Anyway, the point that I lost was that perhaps Mufasa did care early on...but as time went on and Scar grew more and more distant, reluctant to give him an honest answer and more inclined to make sarcastic and condesending remarks, he realized he really couldn't do much to sway him or anything.
To be completely honest, I haven't taken the time to print out and read CotPL. Partly out of laziness, and partly out of the fact my father doesn't appreciate me printing out massive fanfics with our ink. What I do know is that it's probably most likely the source of the popularity of the idea that Scar started out as generally a softie (for lack of a better adjective), not to mention the reason why most people know him as "Taka" (although the name actually originates the "TLK: 6 New Adventures" books, the closest to canon we have when it comes to how Scar got his scar). I can only tell you are other's opinions that I've heard, but I know that's not what you're looking for, so I'll spare you.
(This reply would've gotten to you back on Wensday if not for DA and it's perpetual 404s. :b)

blah. Deviant ate my big long comment. >_< Pisses me off. Anyhow, Yeh yeh, Snowy does like to put her 10 dollars in. I'm always afraid to talk to her because, well, you know, she just knows everything. Manyhow, I can only imaging. I think maybe CotPL made Scar a little too creampuff at the beginning. I mean, people develop a LOT of their personality very early on and Taka had very very little of scar in him. What's more, they made him out to be some duped sap in the time between Simba's departure and return. They kind of twiqued his personality too much for me. But it's worth poking your nose in, anyhow. I understand the not wanting to print. I dun either. I just sat in front of my comp and stared at the screen.

JTT is scary. T_TI'll have to look into into this french version. how do you make those lovely skies? Is it just a gradient with clouds made on an upper layer with the smudge tool? ^^' that's my theory... ^^' but quick as they are they always look great ^_^

hibbary In reply to Bilious [2004-05-01 17:48:55 +0000 UTC]
you've unearthed my secret!!! Yeah, for clouds like that is just gradient and smearing an off white on a layer above it. -_- This one was terrible because it was 3 in the morning and I was trying to get it done bebore sleeps. It's more of an underpainting. gradients perfect for the sky and underwater and useless for just about everything else.

OMG, there would be so many of us! We'd be like this... really scary art cult when people'd pass our building and look up they'd see dark, boarded up windows with evil artist eyes peering out at them. Awesome! Ya, the US definitely needs a new animation company. A really really... different one. I mean, a lot of the american films are very similar. I want more philisophical animation. CA eh? I hear it's very crowded. Hows 'bout little bit north, like oregon or washington? Tons of artists live there. Mmmm, and it would be all dark and gloomy and delicious! I wanna do it! If there were someone out there rich and ready to sponser an independent animation studio I'd be all over it like sores on a meat-industry animal!!!! As for grunts, we'd just have to give them enough of the $. Yep yep. Delicious!
