Loyal and Protective: When she devotes herself to something, she'll stick to it. This makes her a loyal friend and family member. She is desperate to keep those around her safe. Although she despises her blessing, she appreciates that it can be used to protect those she loves in a pinch. She's quick to step up to the plate if it means protecting others from bodily harm.

Piper's mother, a secretive Ignacio worshipper, passed away shortly after giving birth to her. With an absent father who passed away in her teens, Piper was largely raised by her aunt. She was well loved within her family until her innate blessing was discovered when she was five years old. In an attempt to please her family, she suppressed her blessing to the best of her ability. Instead, she channeled her anger towards her apprenticeship as a screamer. It was effective for a time, but she found that despite her best efforts, the strength of her blessing was continuing to grow.

Family Background:
Nilo and Rita lived together in a large, combined family herd. In traditional Seroran fashion, the family revered Alya and disliked Ignacio and were quite vocal of their religious beliefs amongst each other and friends. While she easily played the part of hating the fire god, Rita was a devout worshipper of Ignacio and feared what her family might think of her should they discover the truth. When she discovered she was with foal, she slipped away and made a visit to his shrine at the edge of the Sear. She prayed for her and her unborn child's safety in the coming year and asked for protection for her and her family for the upcoming summer months.

Rita went into foal in the middle of the day in late July. The birth was grueling on her small frame and under the heat of the sun, she was quickly losing strength. Nilo's sister left to fetch a Savior, but by the time she returned it was too late. The Savior managed to save her foal's life, but couldn't bring back her mother.

Foalhood:
Nilo was consumed by grief and turned to alcohol to numb his pain, leaving his sister to take over as her guardian. The pegasus mare treated the dark filly as her own and Piper adored her in return. Together, the two took care of Piper's father. As time past, Nilo did start recovering from his pain and started sobering up to rejoin his family as a contributing member of the group.

When she was 5 years old, Piper played with the older fledgelings. She was completely unaware of her smaller stature and demanded to be treated as an equal to the others. Never one to pass up an opportunity, her cousins invited her to spar with them. Without a clue of what to do, they ran circles about her, leaving her behind to spit the sand out of her mouth and catch up. The filly's temper blossomed and grew out of control and as one of her eldest cousins charged at her, her blessing flickered to life in front of her. The young colt slid to a halt and Piper was awestruck watching the pebbles he kicked up bounce off the light in front of her. One of the filly's whinnied in fear and the others bolted back to the herd as Piper watched the light dissipate.

As she trailed after her cousins, she was met by her aunt and stopped in her tracks when she saw the horrifed look on her face. She was escorted back to her family where the adults interrogated her. Piper hadn't a clue what was wrong with her or why her family didn't like her blessing. It wasn't until her aunt explained that she had been blessed by the fire god, Ignacio, that she started to understand why. She had been taught from a young age to hate him as her family did. She was told by her older family member's to tell no one and she began to deny ever being blessed in the first place.

Additionally, she became even more devoted to Alya and requested spiritual healing frequently. The Harvest Festival became one of her favorite times of the year as she felt close to her herd and was able to forgive herself. Her aunt suggested she request to become a mullah during her rising wind ceremony, but Piper's temper proved to be an issue. Even with the help of her aunt, she felt that she wouldn't fit into the role.
Teenage Years:
Despite her willingness to conform, much of her family recoiled from her, including her father, who was devastated. When she was older, her aunt explained that her father felt betrayed by Rita for lying to him and Piper began to develop a similar resentment towards her mother. She watched as her father returned to his old habits, but felt nothing but distaste for him and the substances he consumed. It wasn't long before he overdosed and passed away. Shortly after, she was legally adopted by her aunt.

As she grew older, her unpredictable temper did as well. She grew to discover that the angrier she became, the easier it was for her blessing to rear it's 'ugly' head. With the help of a screamer, she learned to channel that anger into combat and intense physical activity instead of her blessing, and found she enjoyed the role in a way she hadn't while following Mullahs. During her Rising Wind Ceremony, she declared her choice to begin training as a screamer. In her years of training, a deep resentment towards herself grew. It seemed that no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't keep her blessing under control. Try as she might, she was finding it harder to keep it contained during her sparring matches.

As soon as she was able, she became a fully fledged Screamer and left her family group. Although she knew she would miss her aunt terribly, the freedom of being away from her family was exhilarating and she never once looked back.

Current:

Piper tends to switch groups as often as feasibly possible to keep her blessing a secret. It's hard for her to gain and retain respect when her blessing is discovered, so she often migrates to keep it from ever being discovered. She has recently left her last group and now resides around Osulas, looking for more work.

IN-GAME HISTORY

Chapter 1-8: Did not Participate
Birds of Prey + Stormbreak Mini-Event: Piper was very active in relief efforts, helping escort and evacuate caravans through thunderbird attacks and rapidly flooding dunes. Notably, she met and protected Esin during a thunderbird attack. On a separate occasion, she was injured after delivering her caravan to safety and took shelter in a nearby cave to escape the poor weather. Hawlyn came to her aid and tended her wounds. She also saved her familiar, Zyler, from drowning in the floods.
Windbreak: Piper attended the meeting with Whirlwind, and she met up with Essie again. In the confusion that resulted from the decision to aid Aodh, she sought out the mullah's comfort in the crowd, unaware of her partner's anger.
Chapter 9: Piper and Whirlwind joined with Kelby, Bellona, Tito, and Bermuda to hunt down escaping Water Bandits in 902: Show Yourself and 907: Dream of the Sky . She had a close call with the bandit leader, Yaara, who claimed that the Serorans were no better than the bandits - attacking innocents without question. In the heat of the moment, Piper had said nothing, and was forced to watch the bandits flee to safety in the Oasis.
