Description
I actually drew and finished something, I haven't done that in a while. Awesome!---
This is a new original character being developed for a possible Metalocalypse fanfic (fanfic likely won't appear here).
She's still in process so I'm still adding more, but this is what I have so far:
Name: Riley Lineham (Ry-lee Lin-um)
Age: 27-ish
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 132 lbs
Hair Color: Naturally brown, dyed deep green
Eye Color: Brown
Bio: The daughter of a musician and an elementary school music teacher, Riley developed an affinity for music as a child which guided her path in life.
She set herself apart from her parents by going to college and obtaining a music degree, which led her toward her current life.
She worked hard, becoming a world-renowned conductor of an orchestra-though she's not even close to the level of fame achieved by Dethklok.
---
She was designed to be the girlfriend of William Murderface, a fantastic character despite how gross he is. XD
The character design was spur of the moment. Just something fun I pieced together.
Her occupation was a suggestion from Sydney, inspired by Dethharmonic.
---
Riley Lineham (c) Me
Metalocalypse (c) Brendon Small & Tommy Blacha
---
The show airs on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim on Monday-Thursday at 1:00 am and 1:15 am.

You know I think it's impossible to make a girl OC for Dethklok and not have her be a giant mary sue.
The daughter of music teachers? Murderface's girlfriend? A woman that somehow manages not to die/get maimed/stick around for more than five minutes? Yeah, right.

Thank you for actually taking the time to read my artist's comments. However, I do have an obligation to defend her.
I'll start by saying I didn't write Riley to be a part of the show. If she showed up in an episode, she'd be dead by the end of the episode (if not sooner). Relationships would screw up the dynamic.
Taking that into consideration, Riley was written for a more realistic RP. The RP centered around internal drama and not the show's usual violence, which means side characters would be more likely to live.
Every OC has Mary Sue qualities when they fall into an existing story. Riley was made as realistic as I could manage.
She's a conductor because she'd have a chance to meet them. She's not as good as them, she's not as famous as them, she's not a member of a metal band. She hit on him because he was rich and famous and he hit on her because she was hot, it wasn't some magical love story where he "knew he had to be with her the moment he saw her."
Sorry if that last paragraph is a little muddy. I'm honestly not a writer and I've got a Graphic Design project to work on.

Oh she's for an RP. Ok, that explains alot. At least you know a girl in an actual fiction based on the show would ruin the dynamic. Ok. I'm good with that. Thanks for the explanation.

Thanks for taking the time to read it. You're one of the few people I've met on dA that understands that OCs don't really fit well written into the actual storyline.

Don't get me wrong, I've written a horrible sue in my time. It's all part of the process. I find that when I write characters in the actual story line I end up screwing something up. But it's fun to try.

I've written more than my share of terrible Sues too. My first OC was a girl named Talari that "saved Vincent Valentine from his demons" and she looked almost exactly like him too.
I'm actually due to redesign her again. I like to go back to the old characters and experiment with them every few years.

That's a neat idea, documenting the character progression like that. You know, I only ever got to see about half of Treasure Planet last summer when DXD aired it. It's probably the only animated Disney movie I haven't seen.

Thanks! Really? Well a lot of people haven't seen Treasure Planet until recently. It's a good movie. I love the mixture of 2d and 3d and TP got it nearly perfect.

I haven't seen a really excellent mixture between 2D and 3D before. I'm hoping to see a really nice mixture in the Princess and the Frog.

Yeah. I've seen some really crappy attempts to combine them. Code Lyoko had a somewhat good idea to switch from 2D to 3D when they entered the digital world. But then I see stuff like Winx Club and I wonder why they bother with the 3D elements in that show.

I can't remember what Winx Club looked like. I only saw it in passing looking for decent Saturday cartoons.

Yeah well, take my word for it - it sucks. And it's originally an Italian cartoon so the English dubbing is complete crap.

Yeesh. I think I'll probably just stick with my Disney and Adult Swim. And the older superhero cartoons, those were good (though Justice League had some AWFUL 3D mixed in.)

Yeah, I don't know what DC was thinking with that one. Still, it was good cartoon.

I think they were thinking computer animation was a hot new tool for cartoons, but just didn't know what they were doing with such a tool. I could be being giving them the benefit of the doubt though. :<

This is wonderful! One of your best yet. My only suggestion would be to smuch around her skin where it lays against the background to soften the edges a little bit. They look a little hard in full-view mode.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind..only sort of though, because I really only do the backgrounds because the glaring white ones are obnoxious.
