Description
Another entry of mine for the Sijun challenge.Topic was 'Time Shift'.
I always liked the Victorian era with steampunk and Tesla so I went with an according interpretation in a fictious Tesla Lab where they invent a time machine.
I painted over simple 3D shapes which I put together in Wings. Also looked at some steam engines for inspiration
5h I believe.

NICE!
I thought those people were actually from a photograph when I first glanced at this.
Wonderful atmosphere and depth.

Does anyone remember the artwork when installing the old Mechwarrior games? Maybe not, but this reminds me of that sort of thing. I LOVE the detail in this picture. As I know everyone else does. But you can really see the work you put into your art. Truly artwork.

"Does it work?"
"No."
"Why did we build it?"
"Someone said to."
"Well...there goes my pension..."
Can't remember where I got that from, but seeing the figures on the platform there, it just seemed to fit somehow.
You're putting out some really neat stuff that's outside your usual scope. I like this...has a sort of H.G. Wells/Doctor Who/Steampunk Quantum Leap feel to it. The details are nicley suggestive without actually being mired down in intricacies.
Excellent job.

The detail is incredible with this one...! I love it, your work is really getting better all the time...! Especially love the details in the foreground, with the clock dials (?), pipes and newspaper... Looks like a scene straight out of an detective/adventure movie!
Ah I'm so jealous lol~ I hope you are doing well otherwise too,~

the lighting here is delightfully detailed and complex. Your work always gives the eye so many places to explore; all the little places to travel and see. And the scope of your work is so huge; I could get lost here.

Steampunk has always been fascinating, and its great to see some amazing art of it! I really like that big engine at the back on the left, lol . And overall, it really does look like your usual concepts, but brought to the steam era.
The addition of the two man silhouetes was great!
BTW I think you went for more detail this time around isn't it?
keep it up!

Hideyoshi In reply to adox-tnw [2008-10-04 19:55:58 +0000 UTC]
thanks! That big engine is actually the time machine, powered by steam engine etc.!
Those figures weren't so much an 'addition' but planned to be in there from the very beginning...^^
Yeah, this is more detailled obviously, took 5 hours.

I like all the elements you put in there, like the clocks and the old newspaper. And of course I love the eccentric man with the nice hat. That's the inventor, right?

I can read time machine, Tesla and I now recognise Nikola as well, but that's only because I just googled him and found his first name.
He's pretty amazing. I had never heard of him before. But then I know hardly anything about electricity or magnetism.
