Description
My mom took this picture, but it's too amazing not to share. This March my family and i got to see a NASA night launch live (cause i'm awesome--- really, i am). it was probably the coolest thing i ever saw. this is a picture i took after it lifted off and was above the clouds. after the liftoff and before the acid cloud. admittedly, getting chased by a hydrochloric acid cloud at 2:30 am isn't all that great, but the launch was amazing. if you ever get the chance to go, GO. and watch out for the acid cloud.

This was incredible to see... I hope I can see another launch again someday. It's probably one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

I AGREE! The closest I've come to a rocket launch was the model rocket day at my camp. we shot off rockets made by us. Admittedly dangerous, seeing as we shot them AT cabins...(250+ yards away but still) >.> my parachute burst into flames and my rocket almost crashed into the window of my brothers cabin. ^_____^**

that sound brilliant!! a tad insane, but then again, genius only looks crazy to the normal ones. you can never go wrong with fiery parachutes XD

ha ha! yeah, it was pretty sweet. it doesn't quite look real, but it is. it's one of those things you can replay in your mind over and over and over, it was that amazing.

I wish I could go see something like that, but I don't live anywhere near a launch site, Where was that taken by the way?

the banana river, me thinks. we were as close as humanely possible. any closer is apparently 'life-threatening'. FRONT ROW SEATS!!!

well, supposedly, if you're within 400 ft., the heat can get you, if you're within 80 ft. the sound will get ya, and if you're within 1200 ft. the biggest thing you have to worry about are the alligators eating you because the sound drives them bonkers RUN FROM THE GATORS!!! RUN!!!

oh well. i got no cool gator stories to jog your memory with, though. if you think of it, lemme know...
the frogs have returned!!! frogzilla's back at the pond across the street, and has measured in this year at 11 inches from nose tip to other end. a whole inch scarier!!

not yet. they aren't the most photo-friendly, but it's only a matter of time before we have footage. easily spotted, frogzilla is. it's a small pond anyway.

Is this a backyard pond or a neighborhood pond or what? And how are you measering this thing anyway? Does he eat mice? Does he eat the ankles of unwary pedestrians?

across the street. it's the college pond (dad works there). we measure with our hands or a stick or something of that nature, and then we measure our measuring tool when we get home. crude, but effective.
not mice... goldfish, though. and i can't say i haven't heard the occasional rumor about disappearing students...

Frogzilla:
By day, placid yet ugly pond hopper.
By night, evil villain, student slayer and arch nemesis to Ninja Newt.

Frogzilla faces down all foes: Ninja Newt (nice one), stupid student, goldfish gladiator, sumo snapping turtles (fat snapping turtles ranging from 2 inches to 2 feet in length. they're COOL)--- all perish before the might of the giant frog from who-knows-where!!! the HORROR!!!

me too. but unfortunately, the stupid groundskeeper at the college tried to drain the pond last year and it looks like the turtles ran for it. but there was a big protest, and someone found out he was doing it illegally, so he got chased out of town. good thing, too, or Frogzilla would've devoured him mercilessly come spring.

it was quite the rebellion. we live across the street, so we had a front row seat (and might have helped dump turtle log back in the pond). at least it was resolved before the environmental club got their torches and pitchforks.

it was quite a scene. environmentalists can be quite vicious when they want to be (i know several, and every single one can tell weird stories of their environmental antics).
