Description
Two days later, Carnival was over. Martha hadn’t spoken to Sami since and whenever she saw David and Amelia, she was always aware of the enamored glance they exchanged. Martha was in the middle of her shift when Anne-Laure walked to the reception. She was back to her human form.“Good morning. I’d like to check out.” the French woman said.
“Certainly.” Martha collected the keys and passed Anne-Laure the bill. When the accounts were settled, Martha asked. “Did you enjoy the carnival?”
“It was a unique experience, especially in THAT costume. Still, I had also bad experiences, too.” Anne-Laure answered in a cryptic way. “If you have a few minutes, I’d like to talk to you in private.”
Martha looked to her colleague Babette, who couldn’t make any sense of Anne-Laure’s words.
“It’s ok. You can take a break, Martha. I’m holding down the fort.” Babette said.
Martha led Anne-Laure to the lobby and sat down in an arm chair, while Anne-Laure took a place on the sofa. “Did something happen while you were a fairy?”
“Indeed. I was caught by a man who though I was just a rare butterfly.” Anne-Laure still sounded very scared.
“How did you escape?” Martha was shocked.
“He tried to put me into a jar but somehow I got my arms free. Next, I used my wand to shrink him down to my fairy size.” Anne-Laure explained.
“I guess he deserved it.” Martha replied.
“Yeah, but don’t worry. I saw him again yesterday and he was back to normal. Except for running from me in fear, when I walked up to him.”
“You didn’t use your costume yesterday?” Martha asked.
"No. It is definitely fun to be a fairy but I guess should be more careful.”
“That and also when you use your powers. Things can get extremely complicated when you use your power carelessly.” Martha warned her.
“I will. But how was your Carnival? Did you enjoy it?”
“It started good but turned out horribly.” Martha said. “And it’s all my fault. Wanna hear about it?”
Anne-Laure nodded. And Martha told her how she spent the day with Sami and what happened when they ran into Amelia and David. She finished her tale with how she angered Sami by her reaction towards Amelia and David and that since then, she hadn’t talked to Sami again.
Anne-Laure thought for a moment. Then she answered. “Say Martha, how important is Sami to you? And how important is David?”
“Both are fine guys in their own way. David is a very caring person. He was, no, technically he still is, the owner of my lamp. I lived with him for a while but he never abused my power. In fact, he never made me grant any wishes. "
"Awww. He seems to be a really nice guy, since he didn't ask any wish from you. I guess he would rather fulfil any of your wishes." Anne-Laure sighed with dreamy eyes.
"Maybe he would, if I was human. The problem is he doesn’t like genies and I guess he’d rather prefer me as a human."
"Oh!" Anne-Laure replied. "That's kind of a disappointment. So, how's this Sami?"
"Sami, on the other hand, is a genie himself. He understands what it means to be a genie and he has helped me a lot since we met. But he’s so repulsed towards the human world. I think he could never love me as a human being, only as a genie.” Martha continued.
“Mhhh... And how do you see yourself? Rather as a human or as a genie?” Anne-Laure asked.
“Well, I’m pretty used to being a genie now. It feels so normal to me now. And the power is really intoxicating. Still, I hate to be a slave to humans, especially when they abuse my powers.
On the other hand, I really enjoy living in the human world. I have my human friends, my job is interesting, I can go out in the evening. I won’t miss that either.” Martha continued.
“Martha, I think your decision is not between Sami or David but whether you want to be a genie or a human. You can’t have both. But you have to decide, eventually. And then, you will also find the right man for you.” Anne-Laure concluded.
“And what would you do in my place now?” Martha asked.
“I'd got for David, of course. Since I'm human. But I'm sure it would be interesting to meet Sami. Honestly, I'm not sure what I would do. But you should definitely apologize to Sami. Otherwise, he might turn away from you and you will lose this choice for ever.” Anne-Laure concluded.
“Thank you very much. I’ll talk to him once my shift is over. “Have a good voyage home.”
“De rien! I wish that you will make the right decision.” Anne-Laure said. While Martha returned to her work, Anne-Laure left the hotel.

It's pleasant to see how wise and nice Anne-Laure is. I also like how you dressed her up for this occasion.

I imagined her as an immature, insecure woman who was often complaining at things. But despite this, good-natured and romantic.

I saw her as a romantic too. Basically good-natured fits well, though I can imagine that she is mischivous from time to time. So, giving her the chance to turn into a fairy suits her quite well. I imagine her to use her fairy costume to flee from her stressed world from time to time. A bit like a little girl playing princess.
Maybe she's a bit too wise in my story from how you imagined her. I'll see if I can change a few words slightly to make her fit a bit more to your ideas.

I see Anne-Laure as being quite smart, but she has trouble using her intelligence most of the time because she has a lot of bad habits: her emotions often are stronger than her logic.
She gives good advice but has trouble to practice what she preaches.
Yes, she is mischievous from time to time, and she enjoys disguises too in a childish way. You hit the notch here.

A fascinating update. I hope this ends up being a turning point in the story.

In the love triangle. Maybe move closer to some kind of closure?
