Description
It didn't take long before Martha was asked to grant Alexis' third wish. It was around 5:30 pm the same day that Alexis summoned Martha from her lamp. Since Alexis was alone, Martha teased her: "It seems you couldn't win David's heart. Did he see your rotten core?""Silence, Slave!" Alexis commanded. Suddenly, Martha couldn't say another word. "There's this stupid maid he is seeing. She's in the way. Maybe I should use my last wish to get rid of her?"
Inside, Martha panicked. If this evil woman would force her to destroy Amelia's life, Martha could never forgive herself. "Mmmmmmmhhhh! Mmmm!" the genie mumbled, her lips still sealed by her Mistress' command.
"Right, you can't talk." Alexis realised. "Tell me, genie, what do you think about getting rid of that maid?"
Martha had to talk Alexis out of making that wish. "I don't think it would work. It's a matter of personality. He will simply turn you down again and look for a woman with a more compatible personality."
"How come you know David so well? Answer me, genie!"
Once more, Martha felt compelled to answer. "David and I, we dated each other for a while. But eventually, he hooked up with Amelia, the maid."
"And you still have feelings for him?"
"He's my colleague and we are friends. All three of us; David, Amelia and I." Martha said.
"Then maybe you can tell me what he likes in women?" Alexis asked.
Martha was about to tell Alexis that she couldn't change her mind and personality. Then, Martha realized that an ill-worded wish might give her the chance to get rid of Alexis once and for all. "He likes nice and sweet women. Your body is truly right, but you're a just a shallow person. If you would give him the impression that are a nicer person, he might be interested in you. But I don't see that in you."
"Sweet women?" Alexis mused. "Genie, I think I know what to wish for: I wish that you make me so sweet, that no man can resist me!"
"With pleasure, Mistress!" Martha blinked. As the magic affected Alexis, the young woman first levitated a foot into the air. Then she began to bloat while her skin and her clothes took a dark, brown color. Alexis head and limbs started to recede into the brown ball her body was turning into. As her body nearly looked like a brown ball, it began to flatten and at the same time to shrink. The surface took on a rough texture and chunks of chocolate appeared inside of it. Eventually, Alexis settled into Martha's hand as a dark chocolate cookie. Martha looked at the morsel for a moment. Alexis was truly sweet now and would taste truly scrumptious. A part of her wanted to eat the cookie right now, but eventually, Martha controlled her urges and placed the cookie on the pedestal of her lamp. Then, Martha turned into green smoke and returned to her lamp.
A few minutes later, David walked past the lamp when he entered the lobby to wait for Amelia. He looked over to Martha's lamp and thought about summoning the genie and have a bit of a chat with Martha. Then he saw the cookie lying next to the lamp. Strangely, he felt a craving for some sweet chocolate. David's hand reached out and took the cookie. It smelled deliciously like dark chocolate. David couldn't resist its sweetness any longer and took a bite. The cookie seemed to melt in his mouth. David took another bite and it didn't take long until nothing was left of Alexis. With a very pleasant feeling, David sat down on the sofa and waited for Amelia to arrive.
Some hours later, David and Amelia returned to their flat from an unforgettable evening. Since Amelia started dating David, he was always very polite and also very charming. But somehow, David seemed to hold back. At first, Amelia did appreciate this behavior since dating a human was completely new to her. But during the last few weeks, she had wished that David would be a bit more outgoing. Today, finally, her wish seemed to become true. On the way back to the flat, both sat on the back bench of the taxi snuggling with each other. Now, they were back at the flat. Amelia smiled at David. "What shall we do now?"
"Mhhh..." said David. "Do you have something special in mind?"
Amelia nodded alluringly towards the bedroom. "Shall we..."
David nodded. He stepped closer to Amelia and wrapped his arm around her waist. Then, to Amelia's surprise. He stooped down and grabbed Amelia under the knees with his other hand. Quickly, he swept Amelia off her feet. Amelia put her arms around David's neck.
"Shall we?" David asked. When Amelia nodded, he carried his girlfriend into the bedroom and closed the door.

This is propably Martha's darkest deed in the whole story: She effectively killed that girl and she didn't even have the guts to do it herself. She let somebody else eat the cookie. (In version B, she does it herself.)
Anyway, this is kind of a turning point: Martha is now really in danger to loose her humanity.

Martha retains her humanity??? Um...she turned a living person into an object of food which was eaten and digested which means that person is now irreversibly dead. Not much humanity there.

Yeah, well, at least Martha doesn't commit the cannibalism herself. Also, I'm worried about her because, as hippo2 writes in Variant B, she's close to being like Sami.
I just hop Martha's own story has a happy ending.

What would be a happy ending for her? Maybe being a free genie could be a happy ending? Or finally deciding to become human again? I see several posibilities here.

What's so bad about cannibalism? All she did was have someone else do her dirty work, someone who would be bothered, undoubtedly, if he ever found out.

Seriously, I should've liked Variant B better, At least in that one, she seemed to show concern for what happened/was happening to her.

That's irrelevant to me. She's the primary cause of another being's death and has no remorse about it. It's one to twist the wish of a master/mistress so as to either impart a moral lesson or prevent him/her from doing something immoral, but Martha's crossed the line here. She isn't becoming like Sami...she IS like Sami.

Alexis saw David just as some boy toy she could abuse and left behind. And she threatened to use one of her wishes to get rid of Amelia. Doesn't this count as "preventing her from doing something immoral"?

So...she commits an indirect act of murder to stop Alexis from having a fling with David? That counts as Martha being as evil as any human.

Sounds like a dead threat. What if Alex had wished Amelia into a cookie and eaten her? Or turned back into a mouse and killed her? Martha might see it as protecting her friends from Alexis.
I agree that Martha was doing vigilante justice here. And it was a dark act. It will definitely give her something to think. Maybe it this thought will repel her from being a genie an bring her back on the path towards humanity? Maybe it will finally push her over edge and she decides, she can't be human anymore? The next stories will tell.
