A thanks in advance to everyone who favorites! I originally wanted to thank every individual person, but I am getting so overwhelmed by previous responses and it is taking away my costume time for SDCC x.x So, THANK YOOOUU
I'm trying to space out my Aria photos, so posting something else keeps me distracted...So, enjoy Miranda's most viewed angle. Hurrhurr I am so witty with titles
I made this costume for Gencon 2010 and Pure Spec. This was, like...the first costume where I am not heavily altering my face with prosthetic and crazy makeup.
I made the gun with a nerf pistol and then added extra parts and bondo-ed the hell out of it. It wasn't perfect but I loved it. I shipped it to Edmonton for Pure Spec, then realized bringing it back to America and going through airport checkpoints was something I did not want to go through. So, I left it with another Mass Effect cosplayer. Hopefully she gets some good use out of it
Unfortunately, there are flaws in the costume and the jacket got pretty beat up so I need to redo the entire thing. I also need to work on piping a bit better.

Thanks! If anything, Bioware has a free outdoor zone they rent out across the street from SDCC. You should go for at least a day!

I took a black bodysuit I purchased, turned it inside out and wore it while I had a friend trace the outlines of the piping and middle sections onto the suit with tailer's chalk [link]
Then I carefully cut into the outlines (section by section, not all at once or it gets too confusing) and inserted the piping and stitched it back together.
For the jacket I took an old vinyl bodysuit I had, turned it inside out and traced the jacket marks and cut it out. [link] Then I opened the sleeves to sew on the elbow patches and sewed the sleeves to fit me better. Added the piping and the back belt and I was pretty much done

Great job, and Miranda is definitely a valuable asset, and a valuable ASSet for ManShepards who romance her. The "ASSet" was a reference to the famous shots of her rear end, no worries

In addition to the above comment, it's generally a pet peeve of gun fans to see people pose with a gun while they have their finger on the trigger. Generally, one of the gun rules is that you should never have the finger on the trigger until you have it aimed at something you are ready to destroy.
Fear not, though, movie posters and virtually -everything- breaks that rule.

Never fire a hand gun with only one hand ever you'll break your wrist that's the most common mistake and injury women make men make a cocked angle shot mistake with the same injury

Good to know. Also, good that it was a prop gun and not a real one! A recipe for disaster. It is just a force of habit to hold a prop gun like that.
