Altered Book

This was a small book (about 5 x 3"), leather-covered, but in really bad shape.
So I glued all the pages together and cut out a niche, filled the niche with little beads and findings, and covered it with a sheet of mica.
Collaged the spread with Italian wrapping paper, Geisha and wings mounted on bristol board, acetate transparency eyeletted onto the left page.
The beads etc in the niche are loose and can be shaken around to make different patterns (and a satisfying noise!).

The front cover of the book is covered with metal tape of different kinds, embossed and then glazed with acrylic paints (see tutorial at [link] ), milagros and pearl beads glued on.
