Story
America snorted loudly and stepped around in place on the edge of the ring. Hannah breathed deeply too, fidgeting with the buttons on her dress shirt. "We can nail this..." Hannah looked over at her mare, making sure she hadn't missed any spots of dirt or tangles in her mane and tail when she groomed her. The announcers voice seemed distant, but suddenly she recognized the word "two hundred". "Alrighty America, NOW you can be flashy."
Hannah spun the mare around and headed to the center of the ring. The judge stood nearby, watching the mares every movement. America walked, head held high and tail erect, but Hannah could tell she was anxious to really get grooving. "Steady..." Hannah murmured under her breath. They cleared the center of the ring and the judge motioned for to trot. Hannah turned the mare and didn't have to que the Morgan much to get her going. Almost immediately the mare sprung forward. Neck arched, steps fluid, and tail flowing like a banner behind her. Hannah ran alongside her, grinning from ear to ear knowing by the reaction of the crowd that she must look good. The pair had made it halfway around the ring when Hannah noticed the judge motion to come forward once more. The pressure on the halter stopped the chestnut horse quickly. Hannah reached for the show stick she had kept under her arm and lightly tapped the back of the mares front legs. The gentle touch was all it took and the Morgan had began stepping forward while keeping her back legs in place, stretching her form out. Hannah held her head high, and thankfully there were no distractions so Americas remained still for the most part. The judge walked slowly around them, before telling Hannah to step away from the horse. Despite now being on a loose lead, the mare maintained her stance, only dropping her head a bit. The judge nodded and waved her hand, motioning for one last lap around the ring. Hannah pulled America off her posturing and away they went once more, flaxen banner flying. The clapping from the crowd was reassuring. They flew past the other competitors awaiting their turn on the edge of the ring. "Enjoy the show guys..." Hannah thought as she made eye contact with a few of the handlers. America tossed her head, almost as if to show off her mane in that moment. "Now let's hope the judge likes your performance..."
