Please don't steal this image, this is mine. Don't use it, not even on your blog, not even as a reference. If you have any plan with it, just ask, and we can agree in fair terms. This image is very strictly copyrighted! (Just count the stars on it, how strictly...) If you infringe my rights, your own conscience will kill you in a very painful way that involves a heavily chiselled clover, a surprisingly angry ant and two pairs of left-handed satin gloves. Don't ask me, and don't blame me, I warned you.

Perfectly. Night shots is difficult to make and they are remarkably atmospheric.

Well, the key is the patience. You also must be familiar with some basic calculations. The most important thing is the sturdy tripod and either a cable release or any kind of wireless releases from IR to WiFi, as your budget allows.
If you have image stabilizer / vibration control / etc. it is better to switch them off. If they cannot find shake they produce it.
Also for focusing: either focus when there is still enough light and then switch AF off, or look for a bright enough detail and use centered focus. The brightest stars may help on a clean day, but remember that in the summer the warm ground creates termiks, updrifts in the air that show distant thing as if they tremble or move.

I think you're more than just a newbie—but even so, being newbie is never a bad thing. Many people thinks it is something disrepectful shame or alike. No, it isn't. Ansel Adams was a newbie. Helmut Newton was one, too. Avedon and Anne Leibowitz were newbies.

I am a newbie actually. There is always a part of your art that is beyond your knowledge and you're newbie in it—if there isn't, then you do something wrong, like giving up discovering your talents Being a newbie is a good thing.
