A beautiful Dutra D4K from Sándor Oroszi's unique collection (1965). Dutra tractors and mainly agricultural machinery were produced by Vörös Csillag Traktorgyár (Red Star Tractor Factory) and they were important element of the national pride in an era where brains were washed with COMECOM ideas and internationalism. On the other hand the 90HP engine had its problems. It was the most powerful tractor of that era in Hungary, with other models 25-30HP or so, and the transmission was not prepared accordingly. It was a common annual problem that gearbox were broken (sometimes literally) by the engine. The tractor was not really cheap, but big agricultural "cooperatives" (forming a cooperative wasn't voluntary but obligatory) could afford them.
The tractor earned the nickname "Pig Nose" because of the protruding front part. It resembled a bit like the pig's nose by the look, and as the axle distance was relatively short and the front part with the heavy engine in the tip of it was long, the tractor could dig the ground on uneven terrain. The engine was at the tip of the nose to give greater dragging ability by balanced for dragging.
