A month or so back, my good friend Jess Jess (=Albino-Kitsune ) was going through some hardships, so I thought I'd make some giftart for her. Things have gotten so much better for her, but I finished up her giftart yesterday and decided to post it today.
This is her character Ritu (Ritu Ranu to be exact), who is a type of bat. I'm not sure what kind oF bat though, despite the fact that she used to be a korbat over on neopets. I'm really happy with the way this turned out and I hope Jess Jess likes it (even if it is taking me forever and a day to get her commission done.
).I like purple.

Well more like a group of bats. Unlike other bats The Flying Fox group ironically feeds on fruit rather then a carnivorous diet. Ok now I'll shut up!

She seems to resemble a Flying Fox which is a bat with a sort of foxlike muzzle which has earned it it's name....I could be wrong tho.

Well, I did look at that character sheet of Ritu in your scraps as I was drawing this. I wanted to make sure I got her right. I was worried that I might have missed something.

How do you get the outline thick like that? *envy*

Oh, it's a simply PhotoShop (i.e cheap) trick, though sometimes I do thicken the outline with gel pen. I just make my linwork a layer, delete the excess, then go into blending options. From there, I select 'stroke' and choose a thickness (depending on the size of my picture) as well as making the 'stroke/outline' black. After that, I turn it back into a 'background from layer'. I then clean it up and get ride of little blobs and such.
if you wanna take it a step further, you can select the area surrounding your picture, go to 'select=modify=expand' by about 2 pixels then go to 'filter=gaussian blur' and set that to 0.5 or 1. This is just in case you outline is too pixelated for your tastes though.
I hope this helps and that it wasn't too confusing *makes a note that this could make for a good tutorial*.

Yeah, I'm thinking of making a tutorial/stamp/stock/PS Brush account. So, I'll make a tutorial for my 'thick lines' as well as a 'how to make beer foam' tutorial.
What I just expalined is easier to do than, well, explain as you can probably tell. It also depends on what version of PS you have. I have PS7 for example.
