"Sailor Staff Weapon 32" by:
In all worlds both known and obscured, desire equals power...and thus those who go further and excel are ultimately rewarded. The Labyrinth is no different, and as payment for her progress in the Spiraling Dance Of Eternal Torment Pleasure as well as her loyalty within the ranks of the Order of The Gash, Leviathan blessed Luciva with the gift of Flight..
I think...I think that I actually made the deadline for this...and here I thought I might need an extension too.
With that said, this is my FINAL ROUND entry for *DarkZephyrMoon 's "Otaku Senshi Idol" Competition, theme for the final round being "Senshi Upgrade". In SailorMoon, the senshi eventually achieve an "Ultimate Form". Otaku Senshi have a tendency to do this as well, and my "Sailor Cenobite" Luciva is no exception.
Here we have Luciva in her "Enlightened" (Enlightenment via Pain that is), which at first glance does not look that different from her usual Cenobitey self. But look closely. Not only does she obtain wings, but the skin on her back is sliced and sinued, pulled back to expose her and 'tied' to her wings (and also exposes her spinal collumn, but you can't see that from the front). She also has a crown of barbed wire, nails in both shoulders, razor claws on both fingers, new boots and new hooks, longer chains and more belts...and that's just for starters.
Also, another strange occurance is that she can remove her "Leviathan Crystal" (her equivilant to a normal Sailor Crystal/Starseed) from her body and use it as a "battery" for some of her newly upgraded attacks. The Leviathan Crystal was made using stock from The Hellbound Web as well as a Sailor Crystal Template by ~Chronomorphosis . Expect the Leviathan Crystal to appear in many future pieces.
This piece was fun, and despite all the little details, I'm STILL surprised that I got it finished so quickly.
Enjoy!

Nice work, here ! I really like the outfit, even if it's a bit creepy - the details are very well-done.
Keep up with the good work !

Well, since she was originally a Hellraiser fan character (as well as a SailorMoon fan character), she had to be gruesome. I've since made her a genuine OC for my "NeverRealms" story, but she's still just as gruewsome as ever. Thanks.

1st: Congrats on the contest win! I wasn't following closely, but you definenly deserve to win. Anyone that can combine Hellraiser and Sailor Moon successfully friggin deserves a medal in my opinon. XD
2nd: I LOVE her wings. I agree that she could have used dangly bits like hooks and such. But hey, it's your first drawing of her (at least in this form)! Heaven knows Naoko didn't stick with her first design for Moon. And Clive probably went through a few designs in his head for his characters too. :3 (Pinhead is the only one I really know, but your fandom is making me think I need to check the series out again. XD)
I feel the need to ask: Are her wings functional? Or just there to look "pretty"? :3

Thank you so much. I"m happy that I won and it makes up for not making finals in two of =DracheaRannak 's contest and mostly likely not winning in the 'SailorSun' contest.
Cenobite.com has some Hellraiser concept art if you're interested. The first two movies are the best (even though I've only seen the first four films; there are eight in total). The 'Cenibitz' in the novella are quite different from the ones in the film too. ^_^
Yeah, her wings are actually functional. Leviathan gave her the "Gift Of Flight" for being a good cenibitz. XD

Oh, hey cool. I loves concept art! XD
Well, to use another Clive example: Kabal (novella) and Nightbreed (movie). Those have major different issues too! Babette is SO MUCH COOLER in the book! XD The movie's okay, but its like they got rid of the awesome details in the book to make it. XD
I will definently have to look up the movies again. :3 And that's what my dad says about the movies (he only thought there were six). At one point I seem to remember the series suffering from too many characters, and my dad says he thinks that was the third movie.
I like Pinhead (who really is the "face" of the movies. XD Even people who have never seen a single Hellraiser often know Pinhead). I just like the twisted philosopher's way of looking at things. And this is just from the scattered memories I have of the movies when I watched them when I was probably waaaaay too young. XD
Even if the movies got rid of the gore, the philosophical side of them are gonna be lost on a lot of people. I shall have to look for them, like I said. *puts on her pirate hat and scours the internet*

As do I. I mean, I draw alot of my Sailor inspiration from Naoko's Meterial Collection myself. I guess when I saw the Animamates fukus I starts to develop a distate fo Sol Style fukus. ^.^;
I have yet to see Nightbreed, but it's a majoy topic over in The Hellbound Web forums, and I've heard ALOT of stuff was cut out (not unlike Hellraiser: Bloodline) that should have been left in. ^.^;
The third Hellraiser had a few 'suedo cenobites' created by Pinhead in order to bring "Hell On Earth", and a couple were lame (i.e. Camerahead and Dreamer/terri Cenobite). Hellraiser III didn't have any more characters then the first two films though. >.>;
I'm a Channard fan myself (even though he was only in the second movie and died a hilarious death), along with the Chatterer and The ChatterBeast. I saw the first Hellraiser when I was really little, but I don't remember much about it aside from the Engineer chasing Kirsty out of Hell. I consider my first Hellraiser film III. I was 13 when I saw that.
Pinhead is the smex. XD
Well, the first two Hellraisers weren't really that gorey, and what goes there was happened for a reason. >.>;

Heh. Well, as a kid you see BLOOD ZOMG before you see plot and substance. And I really do think it takes an older teenager to really have a grasp of half of what's going on in a lot of movies.
You're gonna hate this comparison, but its like Rocky Horror Picture Show. A thirteen year old (even as young as ten...) could watch it just fine. But you've gotta be in your late teens to get most of the show. I think Hellraiser might have a similar problem.
I might pick up the books. I have to watch the movies first though. I don't handle book vs movie well, especially if I've read the book firt. (I'm still pissed over how they changed the character of Boromir's brother in LotR. Book = I'm honorable and will withstand the pull of the ring. Movie = I'll fall victim and yank you half-way around the world for something that never even happened! >_<
Nightbreed kind of drags to be honest, although the villian was kinda awesome. Psychotic therapists FTW. XD I really don't remember much of the book, and I'm not sure I absorbed half of what was there, but it was a lot different.

Heh. I just noticed boobs and peenies before I noticed the blood and gore. I was raised on monster movies, so gore never really bothered me much. >.>;
And why would I hate that comparison? I love Rocky Horror. Bot Rocky Horror and Hellraiser have good stories and both are cult classics. XD
Well, there' the original 'Hellbound Hearth' novella (what the first Hellraiser films is based on). I never had mouch interest in the LOTR movies. I've never seen them and have no interest in seeing them really. I do love the old animated LOTR films though (even though there never was a Two Towers animated movie). XD
lol. I think I'll still give Nightbreed a looksee though. XD Psychotic therapist are awesome...ironcially awesome. XD

XD For some reason that's the only character that really screams "CLIVE BARKER" to me in the movie.
I'd say more but I'd spoil.
Well, cause comparing Rocky Horror to Hellraiser is kind of..then again....they both deal with "pleasure" don't they? *shot*

That's probably the one with the only clip I actually remember. Was that the one where they rip the one guy's skin of with fishhooks?
I can come up with a theory for the pins. It would involve using that "bald head maker" fabric stuff and carefully attaching the pins into it. Using a few extra suppports around the pins wouldn't be an issue cause they'd be so small you'd have to be on the stage with the performer to see them. Pins might run a little thicker than they do in the movies, but I don't see that being an issue.
I wanna see the Lion King stage production SOOOOO bad. >_>

I wanted to see it myself back in the day along with the Little Mermaid (even though I don't like how they Disneyfied the ending of the story). I read the book. ^.^;

galacticpink In reply to HotaruThodt [2009-06-11 06:24:35 +0000 UTC]
XD Ah. Well then..yeah. XD
I never really wanted to see the Little Mermaid play (although it was the VHS I abused as a kid according to my parents. I think most kids these days have one movie they watch overandoeverandover. I'm told mine was The Little Mermaid). And I've never read the "never make a deal with the devil" version that is the original. (Devil, Sea Hag, whatever. XD) I did dislike the ending of the sequel, but beyond that it was one of Disney's few sequels that didn't suck. (I think she should have been able to go back and forth between mermaid and human instead of having to choose. XD)
Part of why I want to see the Lion King is for the production itself. Not just the story. I wanna see the way they use the puppets and African-styled masks and such. It's such an awesome usage of the stage. *is getting all arstistic-y sentimental here*
I like the Disney version, personally. Although I find the Grimm version of Snow White absolutely hilarious. The Dwarves dropped the coffin and the piece of apple popped out of her mouth, thus waking her. XD Hilarious.

lol. I have an old VHS of the Little Mermaid I stole from my cousin with the um...phallus on the castle in the box art.
Yeah, the sequel to the Little Mermaid was pretty good (waaay better than Return Of Jafar, which sucked ass).
That's actually the main reason I want to see it. I mean, I'm going back to school for art and I enjoy visuals as well as learning all the mechanics of things. I'd love to be a concept artist for movies and videogames.
Oh man! I had forgotten about that one. At least none of the dwarves knew about embalming, huh.

Y'know, I think people have added far more "inappropirateness" to Disney than was intended, or in many cases EVEN THERE.
My parents own the original VHS releases of most of the Disney movies. The phallic symbol is immature male teenagers thinking too much. At least that one has some substance. What I hate is when they claim Aladdin told Raksha (Rakasha? The tiger) to take his clothes off. I nearly made myself deaf listening to the TV at full volume. IT ISN'T THERE! >_<
The visual things are just people trying to razz on Disney. The others are just stupid. >_< GOod art is gonna have things that stupid people will misinterpert. Can we not draw straight lines anymore? Oh wait, limp ones can be phallic symbols too, huh? *rants*
*cough* You hit one of my pet peeves...

riest's Boner' most definently is not (it's his knees). Oh, but there is one not many people spot. The entrance to the Sea Witch's cave is shaped like an upside down vag. >.>;
I listend for the Aladdin one too, and it's not there. I heard that in 'The Rescuer's' there's a calendar with anaked lady on it in one of the scenes, but I haven't seen the Rescuer's since I was little so yeah. >.>;

I tend to refer to the book version (Hans Christian wrote it, right? He's got some good ending stories too) as "sea hag", basing her on some traditional myths involving ocean based witches. :3 Not that I've read the story, but yeah.

A lot of people think Grimm stories all ended scarily. No...they just didn't end happy shit roses out of your ass (sorry, but that's the way some of the Disney movies ended...XD). And Han had more realistic endings than most modern versions depict, but they actually made sense whether they were sad or good.
I don't know about Hans, but the stories attributed to the brothers Grimm were just written down versions of the stories told to scare children into listening to their parents. XD

I remember reading something about in the original version fo Sleeping Beauty, she was raped by a King while unconscious and gave birth to two children (while still unconscious) or something like that. >.>;
How about some nursery rhythms? Some of those were just wrong. Take 'The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe' for example. The kids didn't do anything, but she spanked them and sent them to bed for no reason other than there seemed to be so many of them.
And what about Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater? Couldn't he just get a divorce rather than putting his wife in a pumpkin shell?
