I've been fussing over this for far too long, and now my first official picture for 2011 is finished! Yaaaaay! I still have a couple of old things from 2010 to submit though, but those will have to wait. Moving on...
Long ago , Hotaru made a shitty story called Unforgiven (brainstorming this monstrosity cannot be pinpointed to an exact time slot since, from the time I was a wee Hotaru, one thing I created woould evolved into another thing into another into another until it evolved into Unforgiven) and in it, the bokor known as Absinthe and the then emo-vampire-witch-boy known as Nazaroth were a couple, albeit not very well developed aside from going to the same school (Yes! There was school involved) and being rather star-crossed.
Being inspired by ~pu-sama 's Magical or Merriment and some pictures from some of the SailorMoon Artbooks (Absinthe's dress is actually loosely-based on Princess Mars' dress design), I decided to revisit that old concept...at least the star-crossed part. No more school here since Absinthe and Nazaroth are both much, much older than they originally were in Unforgiven and Nazaroth is now a fallen Elder God-turned-Annunaki (race from Nibiru/the Abyss).
In the new pairing, Nazaroth kind of has an obsession with Ms. Absinthe...kind of on the level of *Enamorte 's (who also inspired me to make this damned thing) Azrael and his obsession with Fae, only Nazaroth doesn't sit around listening to Patsy Klein on his phonograph while painting pictures of the object of his affection.
I also seem to have a thing for Beauty and the Beast-type couples.
Absinthe looks a tad thinner than I intended for her to be too. oops.
Anyway, this piece was coloured half with the mouse, half with my Shiny New Tablet. By the time the Tablet came in the mail, I had the flats and parts of the background layed out for this thing. I had also started shading in places. Hopefully you can't tell what was done with the mouse and what was done with the Tablet. Regardless, I still have a ways to go.

Well, you did kind of inspire me as I worked on this, I mean Nazaroth's obsession with Absinthe is probably just as bad a Azrael's obsession with Fae, although Nazaroth doesn't find being in a woman's bedroom scandalous and Absinthe isn't scared near-constantly.
