So, awhile back InkyBrain and I were talking about a certain person who, for lack of better wording, seems to be obsessed with her (as well as her old character Vistyne even though Vistyne now belongs to me), and so she made a vent piece...which now I can't seem to find on her Art Page over on Facebook and I don't think she ever submitted to DA. I'd st.ash the image and link to that, but I don't think InkyBrain would like that much. ^.^;
But anyway, she inspired me to make this damned thing...which is just Ryan 3.0 in some shadows (and a bit bloody at that) being...well, Ryan 3.0 because he's all super serial now. This is also my entry for dA-Morgue 's Halloween contest. I was originally working on another entry, but it struck me as a bit fantasy so instead they get Ryan...being Ryan...because Ryan.

What I enjoy about this at first glance is that it comes off looking like a movie poster or advertisement. It's a good design choice, however, what I don't particularly like about it: I understand the character is in the shadows and that's fine but it ends up being too subtle and you can't really tell what all is going on in the piece unless you really look into it. What you did well is the bright yellows to bring in a focal point and make that side of him a bit more legible. With that being said since the lights are bright and seem to exude a lot of light they should reflect more off the armor the character is wearing and leave more of a yellow reflection off the shinier parts that the light would hit. I think that would do a good job of conveying a more spooky atmosphere as well with it slightly glowing along the face. Not a bad piece overall but can use a bit more refinement and understanding of light and shadow.

Ah, so gloomy and dark. I really love Ryan, he is such a dark and twisted character. (but I generally have a thing for mad scientists and doctors.)
I really like how he peers from the dark, with the glowing gear of his gas mask and the light softly illuminating his face. His crazy gaze is terrifying. The hair looks so fucking cool and well drawn here

And he's only gotten darker and more twisted with 3.0, where as he was more "zany" and "quirky" with his 2.0 version. Thank you. : )
