Description
A series of mysterious thefts of Yoyodyne property leads to a confrontation of colossal proportions.
******************
In recent weeks Yoyodyne Industries had found itself the target of a series of thefts at its storage facilities and shipping depots. Semi truck trailers and shipping containers had been found torn open, as if someone had used a giant can opener to peel back the metal and access the contents. In other cases entire trucks had gone missing, only to be found miles away torn open and stripped of their contents. Stranger still was the fact the missing trucks did not appear to have been driven to their destinations. Their engines were still shutdown by the installed security systems and their odometers unchanged from the last inspections. The management of Yoyodyne Industries responds by increasing patrols and surveillance of all its properties, including the deployment of Technomancer's robotic sentinels Hugin and Munin. The pair of robotic ravens used their advanced sensors to help monitor and patrol the various facilities in an attempt to discover how the thieves were committing these crimes.

Halston Street Yoyodyne Shipping Depot
The predawn hour was normally a quiet uneventful time for most the city. The usual peace was broken by a brief intense flash of light and an accompanying electric crackle. From behind a dumpster at the edge of the facility a shadowy figure stepped out onto the parking lots and looked around. Robin Grant, better known to the general public of Angel Falls as the titanic villainess Skyscraper, scanned the trucks parked at the facility. Robin reached down to her belt and removed a small electronic device. Skyscraper pressed a red button and waited until a status light turned green. The device was a gift from Kim Paler. The device emitted a series of modulated electronic pulses that scrambed the GPS tracking chips on all the nearby vehicles. In addition the device sent a coded signal to all the nearby surveillance cameras; freezing the images they relayed. With the security cameras effectively disabled Robin got to work. She glanced at the list of vehicle numbers she had been given by her associate Kim Paler. The two villainesses had worked out a mutually beneficial agreement. Kim Paler would give Skyscraper use of her teleportation system to gain access to locations where high tech equipment was stored. Once there, Skyscraper would use her own powers to collect pieces of equipment that would be useful to her in her own research. At the same time, Skyscraper would obtain certain equipment that Kim Paler wanted for her own nefarious purposes. Robin was mainly interested in medical and scientific equipment that she could use for her own research in duplicating Ultrawoman's powers. The items she had retrieved for Kim Paler had tended to be either weapons for the military or equipment that seemed to deal with high-energy physics research. Whatever the case was, Robin was happy to help Kim Paler as long as it meant Robin could obtain the items she needed for her own purposes. Looking around she spotted one of the trucks Kim had asked her to obtain. Concentrating on her powers, Robin begin to grow in stature and strength as she approached the vehicle. Her sudden increase in size was enough to startle a flock of nesting pigeons and one solitary raven into taking flight.

"Claire, we have an energy spike. It's at the Halston Street Facility. I'm patching the feed from Hugin in to your visor," stated Sam St. James as he spoke to his wife over the comm link. "It looks like we have a problem. A big problem!" Sam pressed some buttons on the control board of the security console, relaying the pictures from the robotic raven to the data display built into his wife's Technomancer suit. "Regular security cameras are down, the images aren't updating. Hugin's cameras are more advanced. They rebooted automatically and the feed is live," Sam informed his wife.
"Receiving. You weren't kidding Sam. A big problem is an understatement. Ta ma duh!" she muttered, cursing in Chinese. Claire St. James, owner and CEO of the Yoyodyne mega-corp pulled the hood of her Technomancer suit over her head. The holographic projectors cut in, cloaking her face in manufactured shadows. The heroine studied the image displayed in the data link. "Skyscraper, that's just great. Well it explains how our trucks were carried off and ripped open. I'm moving to intercept her now. Have Hugin record her actions until I can get there."
"Claire, I don't know about this. Are you sure you want to take her on? I can have our security forces move in. And we can call the Guardians. They can take her on."
"No. Sam this is Yoyodyne business. Have our security teams stand by in case I need them. But forget about calling the Guardians. I don't trust them. They are too closely tied with Stranger Industries. We can handle this in house." Claire punched some buttons on the control pad built into the left forearm of her suit. "Computer, run spell routine Alpha-8." The power circuits of the Technomancer suit flared to life as the computer drew on the precious supply of Orichalcum to power the spells Claire selected.

FLY Active
As the magic energies surrounded her body Technomancer took to the air as she faded from sight. Rising higher in the sky, she turned towards the Halston Street facility and accelerated towards her destination.

Skyscraper finished peeling back the armored top of the first truck, much in the same way a normal person would open a can of sardines. Reaching inside, she smiled as she retrieved the experiment protein resequencers she needed for her research. Holding them in her giant palm she tossed the truck aside like an empty aluminum can. Looking around, she spotted the truck containing the equipment Kim Paler had requested. Kneeling down, Robin grabbed the truck in her right hand. As she did, there was a loud sizzling noise as the body of the truck began to glow red and radiate heat.
******************
Technomancer slowed to a hover as she watched the villainess bend down to pick up the truck. Gesturing towards the truck she activated a new spell.

"Damn it! What the hell?" Robin exclaimed as the truck began to burn through the material of her glove. Dropping the truck from her grasp, she held her wrist in her left hand and blew air into her right palm in an attempt to cool the burning she felt.
"Didn't anyone ever tell you it's not polite to take other peoples' toys?" said a voice from behind her.

Kim might have to supply some back up of her own. Skyscraper is a very useful ally, and Kim wants to protect her investments.
Besides, some captured techno-magic might make for interesting enhancements to her equipment.

If Kim sends her robotic spiders, hopefully Sksycraper will reconize them and not try to step on them. Plus, Kim can't pass up the chance to get her hands techno-magic technology.

I have to say, I always thought, and still think the Paler/Skyscraper alliance is a natural fit and a potentially serious threat to the heroes and civilians of Angel Falls. Thank you for letting me mention her and use her as plot point in this story.

My pleasure.
If I can actually get around to writing again Kim is going to be a bit more active. She has plans in the works.

Huh... that's still a somewhat foolish course of action to not let any other supers know what's going on.... even assuming she can handle the situation just fine, a little extra backup in case of unexpected variables never hurts...

As stated, Technomancer doesn't trust the Guardians and she does have a Yoyodyne security team on standby around the perimeter. Technomancer wants only Yoyodyne to handle this.

You're doing a written and comics format? I thought I was the only one doing that. Name's Jessie L. Cohn, by the way. I am an digital artist and comic writer.

Hi Jessie. I'm doing this story in a written and comics format. Saves me doing so many pages in a pure comic format. Also, since writing is not my strong suit, I'm collaborating with Teri-Minx for the written portion.

might have to find out from you how. Whenever I tried to make characters words like that the outfits don't want to fit. I've tried doing stuff like that before and the outfits don't fit. You get into all sorts of weird problems. When you resize things. Unless you're using some tool or something for the software that I don't know about.

In this case, I make sure to scale everything the same size. If I go from a scale of 100% to 1000%, I make sure scale the character, her hair and clothing to 1000%. Using scale X, Y or Z could screw things up.
