Description
A Golden Eagle on watch for any movement below. Golden Eagles are a sight to behold. Huge birds that can bring down even small deer. They are the Apex of their food chain. Feathers replacing scales in these dinosaurs of the skies. Raptors are frightening creatures if you could only imagine them at a slightly larger scale. They could easily take down a man ... Even the Golden Eagles of today could if they really so wished. I wouldn't want to mistakenly end up near an eagle's nest if they were around.Ahhhh I've had several requests asking if I had a reference for this. I found the eagle after searching a while ... See > [link] The branch is from a photo as well, but has been modified alot to appear more fitting for the drawing.

Haha ... actually I don't get many requests Kate, nor do I often have time to take any being pretty busy most of the time. I've looked at a few pictures of Alexandrine parakeets ... They are mostly green ... would the tattoo be in colour ? What kind of pose would you want it to be in ? Where would it be positioned on your body ? Would it be a realistic image or a more tribal or fantasy type interpetation ?
Let me know and I'll see if I can squeeze it in sometime.
John

Don't thank me yet ... I'm so busy that you may have to remind me about it down the road. I'm hoping that you're in no big hurry for it.

Wee! I finally uploaded the imitation! It's the ugly one with the smudge, but I'll update it as soon as I get the other one back from the teacher and get it photographed. Looking forward to your critics.. hehe. Who can possibly give me a bertter critique than the artist himself? Thanks for letting me imitate this drawing, it means a lot to me
To get to copy one of my favourite drawings!! Wee!

What I really like about this piece is how you did his wings, they have something edgy to them, something I really enjoy.

Wow awesome. I know it might get buried but I have a question: How did you get it to be so dark on screen? Is it just really darkly shaded?

It's darkly shaded. I only use 6B woodless graphite pencils.

Thanks Evan,
I usually used textured paper ... makes it feel a bit more like painting .... even if it's only a drawing.

yeah I've done some on the smooth stuff .... I still like the textured stuff better though.
