Description
A Golden Eagle on watch for any movement below. Golden Eagles are a sight to behold. Huge birds that can bring down even small deer. They are the Apex of their food chain. Feathers replacing scales in these dinosaurs of the skies. Raptors are frightening creatures if you could only imagine them at a slightly larger scale. They could easily take down a man ... Even the Golden Eagles of today could if they really so wished. I wouldn't want to mistakenly end up near an eagle's nest if they were around.Ahhhh I've had several requests asking if I had a reference for this. I found the eagle after searching a while ... See > [link] The branch is from a photo as well, but has been modified alot to appear more fitting for the drawing.

No problem. I feel the same way about it, sometimes. Though on occassion, that perfectly smooth hot press paper just feels damn nice to work on. ; )

We had Giant Eagles in NZ before the Moa (which was a flightless bird like an ostrich, but a lot bigger) became extinct... They were about twice the size of Golden Eagles, i think...

Yeah I know what the Moa was and I had read about the giant eagles as well ... I couldn't remember where the eagles were from but they were huge ... Bigger than twice the size of a modern day eagle.

About the prints ... I've had a print account for .... about two months now I guess .... and haven't sold a thing .... I probably should take the time to get more prints put up, but there's always something to do.
The one trouble with most art sites, Mischa .... is .... that they are frequented mainly by artists .... all of whom are wanting to sell their art ... but not frequented so much by prospective buyers. It's a sad sad truth. Sorry I can't help you more than that.

Thank you very much, I don't belive I've ever gotten a comment that was so polite or to the point before, I had thought about prospective buyers, and because art is so fashionable today it's hard to find something for one price that someone else had done better cheaper, I guess that is the main thing.
I am amazed though, that you have yet to sell a peice, as your's are obviously so much more advanced than mine, just as plain fact, no envy lol.
Most people want photoshop prints now, and I don't work through photoshop so I probably wouldn't sell anything if my art were the best in the world, which is a bleak but still thruthful outlook on it.
Many times I look through the print to see what I would buy if I were in the market for something, I've chosen Oil paintings, acrilic work, some water colors, but mostly black and white ink sketches, contrast portraits.
Though I wouldn't mind paying for some comissioned works in graphite I have a hard time finding people who will do them for less than $50, which is good for the artist, but hard on the buyer.
I really Apprectiate your time and interest, as you are the only acomplished artist who has taken the time or trouble to answer me, and I'll be watching your work in gratitude, though I can't right now I may later be able to purchase one of your wonderful peices from you.

I'll tell you the main reason I bought a print account ... I'm going to use it to give gifts to friends and relatives .... you can have a variety of things made up from your art ... anything from coasters, puzzles, magnets, postcards, Calendars, mugs ... and of course prints ... I'm sure that I'm forgeting a few things here, but you get the idea.

I had the ultimate pleasure of working with one of these birds once at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center I work at, and we had to be so careful of it's talons and beak. You did such a wonderful job, I'm absolutely amazed!

Yeah, really strong, but it's so totally worth it, isn't it? Just to be near enough to touch one (with gloves) is amazing. I'm obsessed with all sorts of wild birds, but I don't think any are quite so, magestic, as them. The red tails are cool too
