Description
Special thanks to =flutterguy317 for the input on making this tutorial descriptive, in depth, accurate, and helpful. Also for developing Ponyscape in the first place.Special thanks to =flutterguy317 for letting me use his beautiful art as an example of effective use of the Fill Between Strokes tecnique.
I'd also like to thank my fellow Beta testers for being incredible! If you make art with Ponyscape be sure to submit it to our new group #Ponyscape-Vectors

You've got me on the edge of my seat to see if you can get it to work without having to compile the whole thing.

Well, I dual-booted into Windows 7 and was able to run ponyscape.exe right out of the box (.7z). So while running it in Ubuntu is on hold, I thought I'd take 15 minutes or so to familiarize myself with what I'm missing.
When drawing a pair of lines and applying the "Fill Between Strokes" effect, I noticed that when attempting to use "Stroke Paint," a single line is drawn directly between the end of one of the strokes and the beginning of the other.
When using "Power Stroke," I've found that CubicBezier Zohan is the interpolator to go with, and I'm really liking the ability to modify each butt independently.
As such, I now /really/ want this on Ubuntu so that I don't have to switch systems. I gotta get moving!

I found the palettes, which is leading me towards finding other unique implementations...
Are the Effects files Python files (.py) or libraries (.dll)?
*yawn* I have to hit the hay, but I'll be back in around 16 hours or so.

If I am not mistaken the only part of Inkscape or Ponyscape that uses Python code are the extensions. I'm glad you like the power strokes and the fill between strokes. That is a keen observation about applying a stroke color to a fill between stroke. I never noticed that before.

And I was wondering, for what is this. Thanks, though I'm doing the same with just duplicating.

Ok, I took a quick look at the Theory and practice piece and I found the fill between strokes effect on the Twilight's mouth. I don't have much experience with powerstrokes so pleas tell me if I'm correct.
When we use the powerstroke on the part of the outline the fill color (from the ctrl + shift + F, Fill and Stroke panel) becomes the color of the outline and the stroke color as well as stroke width (again from the crtl shift F panel) become somehow useless. Width of the outline is set via the pink nodes, directly on the outline. Now because we can't set the fill color inside the outline we can make the fill as another shape. Alternatively we can use the fill between strokes so it changes automatically if we decide to modify the outline.
My 2nd question. I always refrained from using both fill and stroke color on a single shape. I thought it could result in PNG export errors. I guess it's not the case anymore?
PS. what kind of CPU do you need the view that SVG fluently ?

I'm going to answer your questions in reverse! There isn't a specific CPU requirement to view the SVG fluently. I have a i2 dual core and I seem to do ok. ^^
you can use fill and stroke on a single shape and not get export errors. I don't think I've ever gotten a single export error when using Fill Between Strokes. Make sure to always check your finished product for export errors anyway though.
You are correct in saying that once you set your stroke to a powerstroke the fill and stroke panel is pretty much useless. HOWEVER you can still set your width of your stroke before changing it over to a powerstroke. When you change it to a powerstroke it will retain the value you set for the stroke in the fill and stroke dialog. Fill between strokes do essentially create another object from the stroke to create a fill.
I hope this answered all of your questions. If you have any more please do not hesitate to ask. ^^
