Here's my entry for the Gears 3 Contest.I initially wanted to do a more grotesque and brutal theme for this same subject matter, but then I read the rules. :/
So i tried to stick with my initial idea but make it more of an homage than a bloodbath.
This image was painted in about 3 days, almost 4. Differentiating from my normal workflow, I used absolutely no line work on this. I just started blocking in the forms and rendered them. It was a fun process that i want to do more often.

I've always thought "Brothers to the End" always tied in with Marcus on Dom's relationship as war buddies, until I saw this piece. I guess it really does span farther then just those two. You did exceptionally well with the background and foreground of this picture. I really enjoy how the mood is set in when you added Anthony and Benjamin into the two sides of Clayton: I get a feeling of innocence, but a lot of vengeance when I look into the eyes of Clay's helmet. I hope your entry does (did) well in the conest!

I think the Artwork combined with the title you used makes for a really emotional piece. Especially after playing through all of the Gears of War games.

I always loved the Carmine and the "bad luck" they always tended to have.

thanks! and yeah, the carmines have always been my favorite. especially Clayton, which i hope is evident by the amount of work i put into him in this painting. haha.
