Wonderful graphics and story! Really top notch.
I'd only change one thing, and that's the title. They look more like ancient plunderers or cozmic pirates!

Oh man,I wouldn't have ever known to use that, that's pretty awesome manDoes it apply pretty well on your canvas?

MrTristanOne In reply to HoustonTxArtist [2012-05-17 10:17:56 +0000 UTC]
yes, using house paint is called"synthetic polymer"some people say it's unwise to use synthetic polymer,my friend who was a pro muralist got me using synthetics,i love using them cos i use them straight from the pot, they work excellent on canvas!Andy Warhol used synthetic polymer in his work!

That's really cool Andy Warhol used it for his artworks,I never knew that. Thanks for letting me know about that,I'll have to try some out one day,I have an idea for a painting I've been wanting to do,but I need to buy a canvas and a few things. It's an abstract design in my mind, but I think it will look kind of cool,I just need some supplies

Don't forget to apply gesso primer to your canvas before painting,i hope to see your painting,it's all experimental just have fun,but practice blending colours and work on different brush strokes, applying textures have fun with it my friend, beware painting becomes addictive you just won't stop!I hope you get your hands on some supplies!

It is addictive!!I've been wanting to work on another painting ever since we finished that one,I still have a few greens and reds,I need a few more colors, and the canvas.I've been thinking about a flower, maybe a rose

You don't need lots of colours you use whats called"limited palette" you use yellow, blue, red, browns, and lots of white for tinting, red mixed with blue creates purple, yellow mixed with red makes orange,or yellow and blue creates green,i don't like black i sometimes mix a "nuetral"black by mixing brown(burnt sienna) and blue(prussian blue)to create a more natural black!mixing saves you from buying lots of colours.
the rose or flower sounds good, maybe try your hand at a still life!

You know what, now that you mention it,I might want to try a still life painting,I've been wanting to draw a still life drawing lately, but I think a still life painting would be cool as hell,I'm going to have to remember some of these color codes,I'm not good at mixing them yet, although I did find out that adding some white paint in lightens the color, and that some colors just don't mix well haha

Ahh Your starting painting and i'm quiting,i think my days of painting are over,i'm going to concentrate more on drawing.
I actually love still life painting it is interesting,i actually loved the way van gogh did still lives they where quite interesting the way he used impasto "thick paint".
Try to buy some colour theory books, colour theory is important in painting,so some research will help!

As artists, messing up only gives us a chance to fix and improve such mistakes in the canvas. That's what makes US artists. I say this about tattoo artists, because any one who can trace can become a tattooist, but when a mistake is done, it takes a true artist to fix that mistake and make it seem seamless. You get me?

HoustonTxArtist In reply to dannyjay69 [2012-05-17 10:01:46 +0000 UTC]
Yeah man,I agree with that.Tattooing is kind of why I started drawing again,I stopped for quite a bit,and never really was that into it as I am now.I loved drawing, but didn't know anything about it.I basically wasted all the time in my classes in high school drawing...or sleeping, lol. But,I figured if I do tattoo one day,I want to be really prepared before I just jump into it.I like deviantart because I've learned quite a bit in these few months I never would have known.

Same here. If it wasn't for the inspiration on here I wouldn't have stepped my art game up. Nothing feels better than when other artists like your stuff.

Yeah man,I know exactly what you mean,I gotta say deviantart has made me want to draw even more badly.Man,I still have a long way to go and a lot to learn, but it sure has been fun doing it,a fun learning process.
