Description
Yeah, this is an "issue" which has been plauging the Thomas fandom lately; some ridiculous rumor that Edward and Henry are being written out of the Steam Team and the show.First of all, Edward and Henry have been part of the franchise from the very beginning in 1943, and they've appeared in every season of the show since it first started. To kill off a pair of characters that are practically staples of the show would be a very stupid move, and Mattel would never sink to that level.
Secondly, do fans realize that the Steam Team concept is redundant? Yes, engines 1-7 and Emily are the core cast, but since season 17, there's been much more emphasis on on the "& Friends" part of the title. Edward and Henry are still main characters, and again, they always will be.
To put it simply, replacing Edward and Henry in the Steam Team is like replacing the Mane Six with Starlight Glimmer. It's not gonna happen, people! It's a stupid rumor that someone on Twitter spread because of course they wanted to, and if you can't be on Twitter without causing a ruckus among the fandom, why are you still a part of it?
On an unrelated subject; yes, I did see The Unlucky Tug's review on JBS - loaded with Mattel bashing and lamblasting because of course he does. My review with Mike will hopefully provide a corrective to the (frankly unfair) Mattel bashing.

Likely never; they're hating on Sam Wilkinson for supposedly selling replica faces.

You know Toby and Duck are not a part of the Steam team anymore yet we still see them.
And not to mention Edward even said he was leaving the Steam team to work with Phillip so it is very likely we will still see both, just not as much as we used to.

When was Duck part of the Steam Team?

I believe Duck was at one point a part of the Steam Team but he dropped out and I know Toby was but he isn't any more.

Yeah, he was dropped to make way for Emily.

And that's what I'm trying to say, just because a character has left the Steam Team doesn't mean we will never see that character again.

My thoughts on Nia and RebeccaΒ notwithstanding, it's been clear since the start of the RenaissanceΒ that Brenner and his team find Edward and Henry the most difficult characters to write for.
By simply relocating them elsewhere, they'll be utilised much better when the team aren't forced to bring them in due to their status.
But since they were part of the Steam Team, they HAD to be included in some form or fashion, even if the situation didn't call for them. Seriously, remove Henry's scenes from SLotLTΒ and the story would honestly be better for it.
As much as I love these two, I'd rather the team use them when they WANT to, rather than because they HAVE to.
Also yeah, I unfortunately saw Tug's review of JBS. I am SO glad I watched the special beforehand, otherwise my experience would've been soured greatly. If he's really left, I say good riddance. One less toxic fanboy.

Yeah, that's pretty much my thoughts in the nutshell. Edward works best at Wellsworth since it's close to his branchline, but as for Henry at Vicarstown? It could be a reference to the fact that he and Gordon used to be stationed there in the early Railway Series books.

Or maybe because he's been doing a lot of Mainland deliveries lately? Might be best to be at the closest station.

On the subject of The Unlucky Tug...
In his JBS review, he said that he will "always love Thomas."
On Twitter, he left the fandom and claimed he hates trains.
Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies.

MNich92 In reply to HufflepuffBatboy [2018-06-20 21:37:11 +0000 UTC]
Yeah.
His TGR review had good intentions, and made a lot of good points; but even if I could potentially agree with him on said points, I couldn't help but feel it was a bit harsh.
His S20 review was okay, but it made me feel, again, that said season felt more pandering to the fans rather than relating to the kids.Β Although I do agree with his "Too Much Thomas" debate...
His JBS review however... yeah, that was the straw that broke the camel's back as far as I was concerned.Β And he made it clear that he would no longer associate himself with the show or the fandom from there on out.Β If that's the case, then good.Β Stay the hell out!
As for me personally, I didn't leave the fandom because of BWBA or anything relating to the show.Β I left the fandom because of the hypocritical, selfish, immature brats running around the internet.Β Now before you attack me, lemme just say I'm not saying EVERY single fan is a brat.Β But I've been told that a group is defined by its majority, and the vast majority of the online Thomas fanbase act like spoiled, entitled brats who ironically act like the target audience; only one group tends to be more toxic than the other...
