Yeah, this is an "issue" which has been plauging the Thomas fandom lately; some ridiculous rumor that Edward and Henry are being written out of the Steam Team and the show.First of all, Edward and Henry have been part of the franchise from the very beginning in 1943, and they've appeared in every season of the show since it first started. To kill off a pair of characters that are practically staples of the show would be a very stupid move, and Mattel would never sink to that level.
Secondly, do fans realize that the Steam Team concept is redundant? Yes, engines 1-7 and Emily are the core cast, but since season 17, there's been much more emphasis on on the "& Friends" part of the title. Edward and Henry are still main characters, and again, they always will be.
To put it simply, replacing Edward and Henry in the Steam Team is like replacing the Mane Six with Starlight Glimmer. It's not gonna happen, people! It's a stupid rumor that someone on Twitter spread because of course they wanted to, and if you can't be on Twitter without causing a ruckus among the fandom, why are you still a part of it?
On an unrelated subject; yes, I did see The Unlucky Tug's review on JBS - loaded with Mattel bashing and lamblasting because of course he does. My review with Mike will hopefully provide a corrective to the (frankly unfair) Mattel bashing.

Yeah. I'll be happy when BWBA finally comes out, mostly because they're focusing on their target audience.

But at the same time, the writers won't treat their audience like morons who don't know what's going on (like in Seasons 9-16, and 8 to an extent)... hopefully at least.

These kinds of rumors and over-exaggerating really makes me go bananas and it makes me hate the overzealous fans of different fandoms, are they that stupid and insane to think that Edward and Henry leaving the Steam Team to make room for Nia and Rebecca to be included in the team to address the resurfaced gripes and whining about sexuality and lack of gender diversity are a big deal.
And while those two are still the main characters, they're just moving to new locations for one reason or another such as when Edward decided to remain with Phillip since they've now become tighter friends after what they've been through in A Shed For Edward and Edward doesn't have to travel far to his branch line. I can imagine Henry moving out for a similar reason or over something that would require his attention and have him make that same choice, too. I think Mattel's really being fair to Henry and Edward still in this case.
So yeah, the rumors that the insane fans are making about Henry and Edward leaving is just UTTERLY AND PAINFULLY STUPID. And you're right, Mattel would NEVER EVER sink that low and they're better than that.

That's right. As much as I love Edward, he's better off as a secondary character. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him and Philip together in season 22.

When I heard about this, I thought "That will never come true" and when I watched A Shed for Edward, I thought that Edward will stay with Philip for a few days and then he goes back to Tidmouth. But then I saw news of BWBA and I was horrified, the rumour about Henry and Edward going away has come true!

No kidding, I don't understand why those overzealous Thomas fans are bitching about Henry and Edward being written out completely when they're only just moving out of Tidmouth Sheds and being transferred to new homes so the T&F team can once again address the resurfaced sexuality gripes.
It's great that Henry and Edward are not written off completely but I'm really itching to see how Nia and Rebecca bounce of the rest of the Steam Team.

Exactly, in fact, they might be over-exaggerating what Mattel are actually doing to T&F and that's rebooting the franchise to make it more relatable to new and oncoming fans of the show and the franchise as a whole.

I think that saying that Tug's "Mattel bashing" is a bit of an over-exaggeration, if you ask me.
But I do hope that that is just a rumour; I have no idea where this all came from..

It probably is a rumor, I have a feeling that it just stemmed from somebody who freaked out by this and was really going over the top and over-exaggerating things for some people to believe which really grates me.
And Edward and Henry aren't bad as leading characters, they're just mishandled and they needed a change of pace which is why they're probably relegated to being secondary characters and I think they really did well on that part.
