Description
Yeah, this is an "issue" which has been plauging the Thomas fandom lately; some ridiculous rumor that Edward and Henry are being written out of the Steam Team and the show.First of all, Edward and Henry have been part of the franchise from the very beginning in 1943, and they've appeared in every season of the show since it first started. To kill off a pair of characters that are practically staples of the show would be a very stupid move, and Mattel would never sink to that level.
Secondly, do fans realize that the Steam Team concept is redundant? Yes, engines 1-7 and Emily are the core cast, but since season 17, there's been much more emphasis on on the "& Friends" part of the title. Edward and Henry are still main characters, and again, they always will be.
To put it simply, replacing Edward and Henry in the Steam Team is like replacing the Mane Six with Starlight Glimmer. It's not gonna happen, people! It's a stupid rumor that someone on Twitter spread because of course they wanted to, and if you can't be on Twitter without causing a ruckus among the fandom, why are you still a part of it?
On an unrelated subject; yes, I did see The Unlucky Tug's review on JBS - loaded with Mattel bashing and lamblasting because of course he does. My review with Mike will hopefully provide a corrective to the (frankly unfair) Mattel bashing.

If you watch Tug's review of JBS, skip over the bouncing rant, mute whenever Mattel/Brenner is brought up, and just stop after he gets through every scene, it won't lose anything.

I actually used to like The Unlucky Tug until I found out what a cynical jerk he is - his whining about Theo and Lexi really drove me up the wall.

The fact that he's one of the people causing drama on Twitter doesn't make it better.

Many, MANY people of YouTube are praising and agreeing with him.

And on Twitter too, before the movie was even released. I remember him saying that creating "autistic" and "LGBTQ" characters only served to "pander" to a certain audience - well, by that logic, shouldn't changing "winter holidays" back to "Christmas" count as pandering too?

And that's what I hate about fandoms like this, there's always going to be some people who would go crazy making rumors like this that certain "fans" would go crazy about and believe and Unlucky Tug is no exception.

It's kinda similar to the rumor about the new Rosie replacing Toby.

Where the hell did this come from? Β I saw Tug's review on it as well (and I'm not sure whether I agree with it or not), but either way, writing two major characters out for the sake of writing two major characters out is just stupid.

Yeah, I'm not buying it for a second. Β It's like Rosie replacing Edward or Toby as a Steam Team member; it ain't gonna happen. Β And if it were, Mattel had better have a damn good reason to.

And rumors like those are always over-exaggerated by fans looking for attention and who have nothing better to do or else hate certain projects for stupid or minor reasons.
There's no point in listening to those rumors if they didn't make any damn sense.

Dunno. Β But if it were, it'd be a stupid one. Β I'd like to believe that Mattel would never sink that low, and Brenner and Co have more integrity than that...

All in all, it's probably the worst video review Unlucky Tug has posted; he doesn't even a single thought to the subtlety of the themes involved for Beresford, Thomas, and the experimental trio and would rather bash the hell out of half the newbies.

MLPquang20-c In reply to HufflepuffBatboy [2018-04-13 01:36:24 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, and if I were to point people towards a LEGIT REVIEW of JBS, I would always recommend Thomas1Edward2Henry3's detailed review of the film in which he gives his own thoughts on it as well as addressed some huge gripes people are over-exaggerating about the film and he actually does see the film in a fresh light and he also thinks it's pretty good on a number of things.
Even if I were to watch Unlucky Tug's "review", even forcing myself to watch 5 minutes of it would not only be painful but it would also be a damn shameful thing for me to do and to hear him go on his Mattel-bashing blitz, it'll just make me castrate my ears with a steak knife.
